Re: GM splayed caps

You guys are killing it. I ran my studded 2 bolt main block at 13:1 for damn near 15 years before the rod bolt went south.

Re: Compression

Here is a way to check static compression that i believe would be absolute. Lightly grease the top ring to ensure no liquid would pass by it. With the piston at B.D.C. and the spark plug hole straight up (facing ceiling) fill with a light (thin) oil such as 3 in 1, record the C.C.'s amount to the b...

Re: Compression

Assuming ....0 deck with your .040 gasket. 75cc's at .375 down comes out to 7.4 dome volume. I get 18.3:1..unless I'm missing or not reading something correctly. Thats why am asking? The dome volume was to be 3 cc???? Had to cut a bunch off to limit head contact now doing the measuring I see more.....

Re: Vortec self aligning rockers with solid cam

Looks like they need some kind of pedestal on the head to work- otherwise how do they 'lock' the adjustment. The V6 was always a little different with balance shafts, and I think it was the first to come out in vortec headed form in 1995 before the 5.7/5.0. They have a trough so to say that capture...

Re: Sealers and thread lockers for final assembly

If you put a drop of oil on the stud , which local parts stores have, you won't have to clean out that stuff from the threads. It's been proven to work...no brush on gunk or rtv or anti seize .....to mess things up for no reason No doubt, but I would prefer to have to clean something as oppose to h...

Af2, if the bearings do not hold up at 9000 RPM are you gonna assume its the bearings fault ???? just asking ? Mark H.
Yep it's the bearings fault every time!!! There is no oil..... HAHA
That was what I was saying
