Re: BBC gear drive

If you’re running a fuel pump off the cam it’s a good idea. If you’re just building a decent solid roller engine, stick with a quality billet timing chain set. I despise gear drives on the engines I dyno, you can’t easily differentiate between the god awful gear drive noise and the valvetrain noise...

Re: BBC gear drive

RCD makes good quality drives.

They made this for our small block raised cam over the winter so we could run a chain drive and run the fuel pump.

Re: Radical/Ground Breaking Builds ?

I'm doing something somewhat different. I'm trying to go low 11s but without a cam. Trying to see how quick I can go with a Gen 2 LT1 5.7L with a stock 160k mile bottom end, stock compression, stock cam, stock heads, and stock intake manifold in a '93 Camaro. The AC, PS, and alternator are deleted ...

Re: How Radical Is Your Naturally Aspirated or Nitrous Street Car with Full Accessories Including A/C?

My old fox body R451 dry sump block needle roller cam bearings Yates heads 366 cid BG king demon TKO2 trans still had ps etc had to ditch the ac as there wasn’t really a easy way to mount the oem compressor. Still had 100% interior with a 6pt cage made 915-920 at the rear wheels. Was not fun to dri...

Re: Piston pin "end play" ? How much is ok ??

Thanks for the replies so far guys. Every piston I have seen with wire locks has had virtually no clearance. We have been doing quite a few late Hemis with Mahle pistons and those locks just barely go in. I am going to try to get in touch with the piston manufacturer Monday. Part of the problem is ...

Re: Piston pin "end play" ? How much is ok ??

Bill , Wire lock applications always end up with end play because the lock has have enough space to go into the groove and once it snaps down into the groove "some" end play results. "I" see .015 as a minimum and have run as much as .050. .125 is IMHO too much and a .050-.100 longer pin should be u...

Re: BBC Manual fuel pumps

Just run mechanical pump with a preset. if you are talking about a 12-803 holley, its not enough as it has a .220" restriction. the 12-704 has a 7/16" restriction and is better suited for over 500hp. But like i mentioned you could just run a self regulated mechanical pump. and not worry about a reg...
