Re: 377 SBC build
With that cam and it’s .600” lift and those out of the box 200 Cc heads I can’t for the life of me see why you can’t make 500 Hp. 3 months ago I did a old set of Trick flows getting them to 260@ .500” for use on a 364 purly street SBC going in a fully loaded 65 B body. With 10.25 comp and a cam of ...

Re: "T" joint in exhaust vs power loss?
If you want loud for power, the exhaust flow needs to cross across the top of the T. This will absolutely restrict flow when using the quiet side because 90 degree sharp joins absolutely suck for flow. You'd be better served by a shallow Y junction, that way when you block the loud side you don't h...

Re: Valve event timing With shorter primary header tube lengths.
What would you do to the camshaft valve events to make the most of Mid Length headers on a SBC? Headers are 1/⅝" Primary. "Mid Length" street headers (Hedman Elite 680608) More overlap? Less overlap? Earlier or later exhaust opening? Earlier or later exhaust valve closing? Advance th...

Re: New in box Comp Cams SBC roller,Who's used one!" #950!
I spoke to tech line at comp,,,and couldn't tell me much other than it dates 70s when company founded. His books don't go back that far. Said it belongs in speed shop museum not our engine,LOL... Guessed it was 265ish .050" durations and likely too radical for typical street strip car. Now I'm...

Re: Switching to a melanized gear?
While we have your attention Mike, which gear is to be used with your EHR hydraulic roller cams? (Specifically the cam that's been spec'd for my 357: HR72360-73360-108). FTR, what are those cores made of? With today's supply chain issues, we could be using either 8620, 1050, or 8660(w/everwear gear...

Re: damn stupid beginners mistake
I had an sbc engine on a stand and after forgetting to install the plug above the filter and tried priming with a drill. Thought I had wet myself.  More news later..... Did the same with a TH400 I had to recreate from a clutch to the Auto in my car. Would not shift correct and pulled i...
