Re: 496 Drag Test REDO.............

For the OP, here's a screenshot from an ET Predictor based on Pat Hale's Performance Racing Atmosphere calculations. (a modified version of SAE J1349) I believe Larry's program uses Pat's CF calculations. I also use some formulas off of epi-eng.com for water vapor calcs and such. The screenshot has ...

Re: Fuel flow restriction

What was the original engine in the truck?
What’s the fuel pressure at full load at 5600?
A 1/4” fuel line doesn’t usually feed a V8 with a redline over 4500rpm.

Re: Highest power exhaust for GSX-R750 L1 2011-2023?

Any opinions about how to best track the cooling system efficiency for the GSX-R750 engine? You need to know 3 fundamental quantities: A water pump map of flow vs RPM, (SAE-2004-32-0084 does have pump flow rate for a 600cc bike engine in an FSAE car, otherwise pull the pump off and drive it externa...

I don't think a gixxer 1000 is allowed in Extreme Kross Kart. The other two numbers for runs 128 and 130 are the 750. :)

It makes a different sounding 6hp mini-bike engine as seen in the video. Not a threat to modern engine design... :)

Re: Bill Mitchell World Products Mopar 446 RB build

As long as you don't do silly things like clearance the rockers for valve retainer clearance you should be fine. I don't see that that block is main priority oiling. I'd install an oil pressure cut-off switch to minimize badness when a rocker lets go and the lifter leaves its hole. You're using rest...

Re: battery tech

A lot of drag cars, including my brother, use 16v batteries, whether AGM or LiFePo. AGMs in my experience, are not light, in fact they can be heavier than FLA batteries. Pick your poison in the link below.

Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno

I wonder what's with the 1050 having the highest manifold Vac, implies it's the most restrictive. Something isn't right with the sensor. I'm not taking it at face value. The highest flowing showing the highest restriction and lowest cfm least restriction. Hopefully the tech will fix that too. Same ...

Re: Service life of 6mm stem Ti valves.

I believe he’s referring to the moment on the valve stem due to the valve head returning cocked. Anyways, the OP’s valve head is 1.84” and not 2.18” so there is that… Either way, the tensile or bending on the stem is going to be due to the impulse at impact, which is a function of the cam lobe and v...

Re: Chamge to Ti intakes and 50 degree seats?

Manley 2.35 stainless intakes in 440-1s modified to emulate 572-13s will last a bit over 1000 laps before the head of the valve cracks. This is with an Isky solid roller with .460/.450 cam lift using 1.7 rockers at 7-7200rpm and a World block at 572 cid. BTDT, didn't get the prize. For the OP, that'...

Ok, cool, so the rest of the story is that you input an incorrect shift setting with a new bullet.
Found your combo, nice set of parts. :)

If you go to YouTube and look up "Ben Alameda Racing", Ben put out a really great video on timing chain vs gear drive vs belt drive about a year ago. Title is: "Timing chain vs. Gear drive vs. Belt drive. Which is best? Answer at end of video." I think it's a great video with go...

Re: Chamge to Ti intakes and 50 degree seats?

Wallace calculators don’t support the stated 986hp, more like 920ish. You’ll need around an extra 60hp to run low 8.40s or like Dave mentioned, an improved setup. You state the RPM limit is 7800? What parts are limiting the rpm? Do you have a non-hero timeslip you can post? How about the dyno sheet?...

Re: short vs longer wheelbase feedback

Folks have already BTDT. https://www.yellowbullet.com/threads/s10-extended-cab-drive-shaft.123994/ Find a real good driveshaft shop that has S10 experience. My calcs show that at 70", carbon fiber may be the only suitable material for the shaft. Steel or aluminum are only good to about 5900 RPM...

Re: Serpentine Oil Pump Drive?

A quick check on Aviad pump and crank pulleys shows the pump is driven half of crank speed. Peterson dry sump pumps show similar crank/pump pulley ratios (50% engine speed) A serpentine system typically has a fairly large crank pulley to run accessories so running the oil pump on the same belt might...
