Re: PVCR jetting Vs no PVCR jetting ??????
The math to answer this question is found in Dave Emmanuel's book "Holley Carburetors". -the old school Holley power valve design is actually a cheaper? way to make a 'mid jet' metering circuit -using vacuum signal instead of a dedicated air bleed -has no precise orifice/air bleed to admit...

Re: Fixture & Methods for measuring pushrod for offset rockers. Exc
The slight variation of pushrod angularity while they function to operate the rocker arm is beneficial to draw in lubrication/cooling oil. Otherwise, with no angularity or movement on either pushrod cup, no fresh oil is introduced to the working interface and this would produce what is called 'galli...

Re: What type of flow numbers to look for in heads to reach 600ish hp for SBC?
Talk to Mercedes about direct combustion fuel injection system! (stalled Ferrari in F1) Bottom line is deriving (BTU) power from whatever fuel. GPH is the real measure, not cylinder head flow numbers. To this day, bench porting cylinder head technology does not accurately represent the power making ...

Visit EPI Inc. website. (read and learn) The man is a technical writer also for Race Engine Technology magazine. My first thought was valve springs, not GPM fuel related.

Re: Bryant crankshaft. likely been dropped. need advice.
Fear makes the wolf seem bigger... I tend to consider the damage to the other object that the crank hit when it was dropped, not the crank (!) That Bryant crank is made using superior techniques and superior metal which makes it somewhat invincible, like an industrial rock drilling tool. It's made t...

In my experience, chasing a crack is the main problem. As I understand it, the application of heat into a cold iron part; the expansion and contraction makes the crack grow longer. ...enter the process called 'Furnace Brazing' -the old school way. Thanks for the positive comment.
I used to have more time to spend on Internet forums.
My life is changed now where I need to spend time doing other things in order to move on to the next goal.
Thanks Speed-Talk for this space to show and tell about American Motor's '56-'67 Rambler V8 engine.

Re: AMC 327 - 443 XRV8
With so much negative criticism about this engine's cylinder heads, thanks for the positive comment. Many unknowns about this engine. For example: All the parts vendors list and sell spark plugs for Rambler V8 with 'reach' that are 1/16" too short. Not sure how the parts books got that way, but...

Re: Valve spring close to coil bind: good or bad for spring life?
I was just plugging in the hard-to-find information I'd found by searching many other alternative sources. It seems to me... that if the springs, very near to coil bind are 'surging' and the individual coils make contact, this would send a whole new set of 'ringing vibrations' into the spring (and a...

Re: Diffuser Disc Muffler
SuperTrap mufflers were originally marketed for motorcycles. As implied by name, they can 'trap sound' but also trap sparks. Spark arrestor and muffler has broad appeal for off road motorcyclists. Automotive marketplace is simply another way to sell the product. I would not advise using off road spa...

Re: drag race wheel alignment
No one said it yet so I guess I will: In drag racing, assuming we are only talking about front suspension alignment, the key is getting the least amount of rolling resistance as possible from point A to B. where... reduced rolling resistance is the 'speed secret'. This will be very different than th...
