Re: Cam gurus, I need advice
It's got a scat "cast steel" crank it and I'm not sure what kind of rpm it can tolerate. I never minded turning a 327 or 350 up but the longer strokes kinda make me nervous. Also, I've never done it with a hydraulic cam, I've always ran solid flat tappet cams, this is my first hydraulic roller and I...

Re: Cam gurus, I need advice
With the cam I have , comp recommends their 987 springs. Would I be better off going to a beehive spring? Will the spring locators I have work with them? I'm guessing they also make retainers for 10* locks that I currently have? I'm thinking of going a little smaller on the cam, lift would be about ...

Re: Cam gurus, I need advice
Comp cams advertises that cam for 3,000-6100 rpm. I thought that sounded off myself. I also got the valve springs they recommend for the cam. I've heard several say comp is a little conservative on their spring recommendation on their roller cams.

Re: Cam gurus, I need advice
Weekend warrior, I don't care about gas mileage or vacuum for brakes. It might get driven a couple times a month and hauled to the track. No heater box or a/c. I just want to run on 93 pump gas.

Re: Cam gurus, I need advice
Thanks Mike, can I ask why the 110 lsa verses a 106 or 108? This started out being a cheap vortec headed 350 and turned into a little more. I started out buying stuff on the cheap, that's why I have that freak show 3k converter. It's nothing to brag about. I'm planning on getting whatever will work ...

Re: Cam gurus, I need advice
So bullet makes Straubs cams? I didn't know that. I thought he ground his own.
I am thinking of giving camking a try. I hope he chimes in on this.

Cam gurus, I need advice
I need a little advice as to if it would be worth changing my cam. I have a comp cams XR294HR hydraulic roller in it, still on the engine stand. Adv. Dur. Int/Exh 294/300 Dur. at .050″ Int/Exh 242/248 Valve Lift Int/Exh .540/.562 ICL installed at 106 LSA 110 I'm looking at a Straub semi custom hydra...

Re: Roller rockers, difference between brands?
I tried a backset Harland Sharp out tonight. I used the mid lift method and came up with needing a 7.450" pushrod. However, the sweep pattern was about .072" wide. IMG_20230121_185926424.jpg Then I tried a 7.550" pushrod and the sweep got smaller, around .045". IMG_20230121_192550743.jpg I'm not sur...

Re: Roller rockers, difference between brands?
Sounds about as vague as you could get. Shorter? I've not a clue as to what's meant by that although I can guess. As far as the Crower's go, it clearly described that the only difference in the rocker arm assembly is that the hole for the stud mount in the trunnion is located "x" distance offset fr...

Re: Roller rockers, difference between brands?
I'm going to try to try one these this weekend and see how it goes. The way I'm reading the email is the difference between the standard and backset is .100". I assume that's center of the trunion to the center of the roller. Being that I'm so far out on the edge of the valve, this will probably wor...

Re: Roller rockers, difference between brands?
I did get an email from Harland Sharp today. Here is what Randy said. "Our standard Chevy rocker is 1.440 long We make a short version that is 1.344 Long. Let me know what you think. If you need something in-between we can do that too. Randy Becker Jr. Harland Sharp / Custom Speed Parts" Sounds like...

Re: Roller rockers, difference between brands?
STR 11500 is the part number, but I can't find them on their website.
Here's the link to them that STR sent me in email. It doesn't offer any help though except to buy. Lol

I'll get it when I get home. They are exclusive to Straub Technologies.
