Re: Fuel pressure regulator

I may try it with just the Carter m6900 pump. I always run a plastic carb spacer to help heat soak & I've never had any trouble with vapor lock. I'll pay attention to see it it boils over into the carb after it's hot and shut off. If it does, I'll run a bypass regulator and run a return line.

Re: Fuel pressure regulator

It's a new build. 383 SBC, street strip deal. Should be pretty healthy. I'm not running a return line. Deadhead setup. Probably going with a Carter m6900 pump or the 8.5 psi 120gph pump. Everyone's quality control sucks, they may advertise it as 6.5 psi but it actually put out more or even less pres...

Fuel pressure regulator

I couldn't find anything on induction, so I'm asking here. I'm looking for an affordable fuel pressure regulator. I'm not sure if I should mount it between the bowls on the carb, or if it would be ok to mount down by the mechanical fuel pump on the frame. Which brings me to the question, does anyone...

Nope, it has down leg boosters.

Re: Carb recommendation SBC 383

I'm considering getting a proform 850. Anyone ever used a proform carb? For the price, it's hard to beat.

Re: Carb recommendation SBC 383

AED got back with me, his recommendation is a 950ho which he says flows 820cfm.i believe he said it was a 750 body in a 850 throttle body. That's a $750 carb. I can get a Brawler 750dp for a little over $400 . My question is, will that almost twice as expensive carb make 30 more horsepower over the ...

Isn't is half the stroke? 3.75/2=1.875. That's shows almost 1/2 pound out of balance.

Re: Carb recommendation SBC 383

850 for the 1.75" throttle bores. How much would I be giving up going with a 750? Not a lot on the street. The 850 has a bit more potential but still gets a strong venturi signal with big throttle bores, although of course that's mostly a full throttle thing. I'm seriously considering a profor...

One rod 10 grams heavier on big end

Someone I know is building a 383. While assembling he managed screwing up the threads on one rod cap screw hole. The rods he's using are scat h beam 6" rods. He found another rod that is one gram lighter overall, but it's 10 grams heavier on the big end. His engine machinist is telling him it w...

Re: SBC fuel pump recommendation

I ran this pump, Carter Muscle Car Mechanical Fuel Pumps M6624, for several years at the track with a 406 shifting at over 6000 rpm. I had adequate fuel pressure crossing the line. I wasn't until I ran a larger engine and a 5000 rpm converter that I started seeing pressure issues across the line. A...
