Re: The little 358 SBC Chevy that could

... FST 850 VS carb... Wow. I thought I was the only one who raced a vacuum secondary carburetor. Are the the other two you were testing also VS? 1st Holley was my 750hp vs and the other I tested was my 1000 Mighty Demon DP. I would have liked to tested my 850 VS Holley but I forgot to take it with...

Re: The little 358 SBC Chevy that could

Do you remember what camshaft, springs and timing that you ran in your 358? What I currently have is an Engle .600 lift roller cam, 250° duration on a 108 LCA. the springs were something I had for another roller so I used them on this cam. The last cam the Elgin flat tappet 1090P cam worked very we...

That pretty close to what I figured also, I think the engine would be quicker and faster with some home ported Vortec's over the 200cc heads. Still seems to run good just not as quick as I thought they would be.

Re: How much HP can this head support?

I have a pair of 10X spread port heads I would like to take the titanium valves out of and switch over to stainless valves, just need to find who makes headers for a 2nd gen Camaro or buy some used ones and make my own.

Re: Changed gears poor track results

I have never had a 406 on our dyno make power above 6500 with the heads and combination you have. MHO is you have over geared the RPM power potential of the engine. You have also lost flash and recovery stall at the shift with the extra gear ratio. Any time you put more gear in a converter acts lik...

I have a set of new 5/16" bronze guides I was going to use in a set of aluminum bowtie heads, never did. Let me know if you need them.

The little 358 SBC Chevy that could

Went out to our local track yesterday for a little muscle car action as last time I broke the car and that was a total bummer not to get to race in eliminations. After finding out my 8" converter was hurt rather then just toss in one of my 10" with the 406 again I put in my trusty pump gas 358 SBC. ...

Re: Is a 2.05 valve worth putting in a Vortec head

Got a set of new 2.05 and 1.6 Manley valves for free and I am wondering if they are worth the effort to put in a Vortec head. I know some here have done this, what performance gains did you get from going to the larger valves. i've Ported a bunch of Vortec Heads , the 2.055/1.600 always makes more ...

The jets and rods are the same as Carters, just the numbering system is different is what I was told.

Re: Changed gears poor track results

Got the news today, my 8" converter is bad. Now I know why it slowed down. Did you have it cut open ? If so, what was wrong with it ? Trans guy said the part that's only supposed to turn one way is broken don't remember what he called it. That was the same thing that happened on my tow vehicle year...

Did you check the trans pan for debris?
Yep, nothing much in there, even the fluid was nice and clean, gonna run it Sunday if it don't rain.

Re: Holley idle feed restrictors

Hope you added the sec pick up tube on that Avenger,, or all you will be running on the primary side only. I did. You are referring to adding the brass tube from the primaries to the secondary vacuum pod, right? From the research i've done, the current IFR and IAB sizes aren't very far off from som...
