Re: SBC intake updates
Both will work, it just depends on where you want you power band to be. Small plenum intake will be more responsive down low and the larger plenum runner intake will make more power up top.

Re: 2.56 Gear, Stock Converter, 4100 Pounds, NA 11s?
Wouldn’t a tighter LSA would have more overlap, idle rougher, and run out of breathe quicker? One of the coolest race videos I have of my car…you’ll see what I mean if you watch it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/765517070206972/permalink/5005531619538808/ Time slip from race above. Re: Is cylinder head aluminum alloy purity a thing to worry about?
From what I remember there were LS heads in late 01 to 02 that were crack prone. We had a few at the dealer I worked at and they has a big X on the outside bottom of the head.

If that SBC doesn't make 520hp I'd drop it in the river.

Put some cam in that big engine and watch the track numbers wake right up, you need something on a 108 LCA for more torque to gain a better 1/8 mile for a better overall ET. The challenge is, I really like the smooth idle and driveability. I'm going to work on the car. The next race will have 275/6...

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
When I first took the 355 to the track, many years ago, I was very disappointed. It was running low-mid 12's. I thought it was an 11 second car. The combo was completely wrong. Over time I kept making changes until it was running low-mid 11's. I spent way more time bracket racing, than test and tun...

Re: milling off choke horn
---here's a link to a story and a few photos I did years ago about Holley 4 barrel choke horns and air flow testing http://www.ryanbrownracing.com/Bill_Jones_Page_4.html Thanks for sharing Bill, Big gains in epoxy top and thin throttle shafts. When you flow tested did you do each venturi separately...

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
I think once a street type car starts running over 135 mph google theory goes out the window. Same for a engine that makes good hp/ cube alot of things we think we know are dead wrong. Scott has basically added 200 hp or so to the car and it a new ball game in my opinion, unless you have decades of...

Re: milling off choke horn
I can tell you this, My 750 HP vacuum sec Holley with the HP no choke main body against my Avenger 770 without a choke blade ran within .002 of each other, so IMO it makes no difference. I still think the choke plate causes problems. I don't cut them off anymore.

Re: PWR TIMING GEAR CLUNK
Was the block line bored? that might be a reason. The idler gears might be a little tight.

Re: Gm 3400 dohc timing belt question on a 1995 monte carlo
If the engine whines from the timing belt it's too tight, won't really hurt anything as we had them right off the GM line sound like that, just gives them the super charger effect. We also had special tools from Kent Moore for those engines to setup the belts.

Re: Engine Diagnosis
I'm curious as to the significance of "(please don't say solder)" My standard wiring technique these days is to use a bare butt connector, crimp it, solder it, and cover it with a shrink sleeve. Does the solder add resistance? Only one way to find out if there is more resistance, do a voltage drop....
