Re: Building A Nostalgic 1970s Fuelie Headed 350 SBC

I would say "no way" but since Mark is building this you can bet he will find a way to make it run what he says it will. I'am curious why you would say no way? Not sure if it's possible at Denver, but at a track closer to sea level I can see it happening. Guys I see at the track where I g...

750hp Holley VS Fixed but found something rather surprising

Got a chance to test my 750 Holley Street HP vacuum secondary carb that I fixed over the winter and it worked real well. I did the little secondary tube mod but after I took the carb off to test the next one as I pulled off my homemade vent tube crossover it pulled off both metal tubes from the carb...

Re: Building an 11 second 70's nostalgic SBC

Sorry, you can't have this '73 Chally... even w/ Mopar's hideous attempt at the 5 MPH bumpers. As it sat in this pic, it ran 10.5s in good air just like you see it driven to the track... more than 10 years ago, unfortunately. And, yes, those are CalTracs peaking out from under the rear of the car. ...

Re: 2.02 1.6 valves in vortec heads

I went 250ish on the intake side with a bowl port and a 1.94 valve, would a 2.02 make more flow, it might but there is a reason GM only uses a 2.00 valve in the larger Vortec heads that produce good results.

I ran an Holley 830Hp last year that worked pretty well after getting the jetting right. Idles well and car pulls like crazy.

Re: Time is getting close

Have you bought the camshaft yet ? Are you sure you need the small base circle for your 400 engine ? I think a small base circle flat tappet cam is a big compromise for reliability. What converter and stall are you running with the new combo ? I think the bigger cam may be close and I know some of ...

Re: Time is getting close

We test stuff very similar ways :D I ran a comp oval cam near exactly the same as your small cam yours run real good. The bigger head is more in line for the cubes in my opinion, are you going to run 1.6 rocker on the bigger cam? I am going to go back and read some of your old posts to refresh on y...

Re: cilinderhead question

My 062 Vortec heads are light years ahead of my old 292 heads no question about it. I'm sure there are better heads out there, but there was something about those 292 heads in my car. The engine had pistons with a flat dome in it, the 292 heads which seem to have had some porting done to it, but no...

Re: Quick Fuel SS750AN Tuning

Interesting info. Carbs apparently can do funny things as I'm learning. I actually chose this carb for the good street manners. So far the throttle response is great except for the pig rich wide open throttle. I was going to post that spec sheet for you but as I looked at it the part number looked ...

Re: Dual Plane Manifold with Plenum Separated into 4 Sections

I think the S.P.2.P. intakes were something similar to what the OP is talking about. While they worked good power fell off at 4500 on those intakes. Might have worked good on a an old 283 the ports were so small.

Re: Vortec 355

Is 450 hp attainable from stock 906 vortecs 10:1 comp Yes, I ran 2 different sets of Vortec's last year on a 406. One set stock with a 3 angle valve job only and the other set mildly ported. 1st set was in the mid 11's and the other set went 10.90's very easy. My 9:1 358 runs 11.30 with Sportsman I...
