Re: Offenhauser intake manifolds

People can say what they want about some of the big buck intakes being the best, that's why we test them and some of the old stuff will surprise you. Years ago I bought a Dart oval port intake for my BBC and all the reports was the it was the intake to run and made the most power at the time, well ...

Re: Offenhauser intake manifolds

I don't care, that frickin setup is cool. No offense to 1980RS but that is the problem with a lot of stuff, looks > actual performance and it spills into the aftermarket. Also why I've seen many many tunnel rams and slightly used giant race cams for cheap, prob came off a street car. Don'...

Re: difference between a 3310 and 4779 primary metering blocks.

I would think they would be interchangeable, but my research says otherwise. What's the diff? The venturi sizes are the same. I have used them on both the 3310 and 4779 and interchange them all the time with no problems. The sec ventui's on the early 3310's are bigger until the -4 or -5 then they m...

Re: Pick a head, any head.

Would you mind explaining why the carb, from an Avenger to a a double pumper, would make such a difference? If it's a 750 Avenger there is no reference tube in the pri side just a hole and those carbs are notorious for sec side not opening all the way or at all. Like I said in my other post I have ...

Re: Pick a head, any head.

I’m looking to change the heads on my 383. Currently running some Promaxx maxx series 200 heads. I really think they are holding the motor back. Mostly a street driven truck. 95 Silverado short box, 2wd with a 5 speed. 10.68 static compression. Running 93 pump gas. Street avenger carb. Crower 238/2...

Re: Offenhauser intake manifolds

I’ll be using one, although it’s not a run of the mill 4bbl intake. Crossram setup with Holley efi. I have a 67 camaro and wanted the trans am look. https://i.imgur.com/iZpycxs.jpg I have the same intake that I was going to sell, you just made me change my mind with that picture to keep it. That is...

Re: distributor looens up

Like others have said, take out the distributor and see if it bottoms out on the intake, if it does not I don't care what you try it will move around.

Re: distributor looens up

I had that same trouble with a couple of engines in the past. Turned out the metal hold downs GM used in the later year bend pretty easy, what I did was look for the old wire type GM used with the metal cover that went over the wire hold down. Took care of the problem, most of the time I see distrib...

Re: How to select the right carb boosters?

My converted 2 circuit 750 Dominator to a 1050 2 circuit works like a charm on the street and run great, it's just a giant 850 IMO.

Re: Is anyone part of a 'street' racing crew?

When we all raced on the street many years ago I would help some of the faster guys out and then we would bet a few bucks on some races. We won some and lost some. After getting busted a few times I quit street racing. Now all that out there are the WDSR's, who are they you ask?........................

Re: 4781/850 DP jetting.

Never had much luck with the 4781 carbs. My 830HP works very well as do most of my other 850's of different manufacturers. A 4780 is nothing more than a 3310 with a mechanical baseplate, if you don't believe me measure the ventui openings, I did. Both were the same.
