As per photo the as cast SV blocks off part of the runner, they need work
Do you think cutting back those long dividers might help that on the SV?

Re: AFR Eliminator Race Intake Manifold for SBC

Ran the 300-25 on my 406 this year and it did pretty good, I do want to try the Super Victor II I picked up to see if it's any better. I like the mods on the 300-25 Steve has done. I have an extra 300-25 I might try to do like his, looks pretty interesting.

Re: Peanut vs Oval port, velocity, etc.

For me, it makes sense to rework the factory castings. I would feel differently: If I didn’t have a skilled performance machinist nearby if I didn’t have VortecPro videos to work from If I didn’t want to control the component quality used in the build If I didn’t enjoy knowing what makes it tick, a...

Re: Who regrinds the lifter face crown on used lifters

One day at a NHRA Stock racers house, we all got into how flat tappet cams and lifters have a huge failure rate these days. This old guy piped up and said "I've had none fail" so I asked what his secret was. He told us that the problem he thinks is the cam lobes have an edge on them that is too shar...

Re: Peanut vs Oval port, velocity, etc.

In all my years of racing nothing has made me happier than when my no compression 461 ran 11 teens this year with a set of "no one wants these" truck heads in 80 degree heat. Just goes to show that what people sometimes call junk can turn out to be a diamond in the rough.

Re: 2.56 Gear, Stock Converter, 4100 Pounds, NA 11s?

Draggon, you better watch out. I might be looking for a 4100 lbs. car with 2.56 gears to put my new 468 in, but I will have to tell you I for sure will run some converter in the car. Projects like yours keep testing stuff alive and well. :D

Re: Blow Through Holley 3310

I'm running about 7 lbs of boost that comes in about 2800RPM. the DP was very hard to tune fo...

Re: How much to flow heads

Taking one of my ported 781's to a guy this Sat. for a flow test. $50 bucks so that's a pretty good deal. I will ask when he is set up to do SBC stuff and it will be the same price.

Re: 2.56 Gear, Stock Converter, 4100 Pounds, NA 11s?

Weather one runs 2.56 or 2.73 gears in a car the converter has the biggest effect on performance in my book. Changed gears in several car and it's never made a ton of difference but when I switched converters to something that was better the car always picked up. Case in point I had a 13:1 355 that ...

Re: Carburetor spacers

Last year my peanut port 461 BBC engine with the Single plane intake liked the 2" 4 hole tapered spacer the best. The RPM Performer like the 1" open spacer the best and hated the 4 hole spacer.

Re: 496 for a El Camino

Things change, the picture was almost 10 years ago. The engine at the time was a 400 with Vortec heads. Over 100 mph in second gear. I always wanted to find enough road to see what the top speed would have been, but the reality of a 2+ ton brick makes me think I would be lucky to see much over 130....
