Re: radius seats on intake
My head porter radiused the intake and exhaust seats. It appears to perform much better than expected as it is a street/strip 400sbc, AFR195 heads, comp cams xe292R cam, 10.8-1 compression. Dynoed at 602hp 6400 rpm, Best 1/4 10.49 @128.25 at DA5300'. The car with me in it is 3250 and has a powerglid...

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
Sorry missed the weight, 3060. Are you checking density altitude or just altitude? I see it is pretty hot and humid in lebanon which will run up the DA. Woodburn, OR is about 300 miles for me. It is a very fast track because low elevation, fairly dry and low temps. I suspect I can get 9s there.

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
I have a hard time comprehending your dyno number given the et. I have a 400sbc in a 64 corvette. Dynoed at 602.5 HP @6400rpm. It was dynoed with no accesseories. I run a mechanical waterpump and alternator in the car. Total weight with me in it 3,250 lbs and I ran 10.55 with DA 5500' which also co...

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
Nice video. I have seen a number of them on youtube. Pretty good videos. The ones you take of the whole car is that from a phone. I would like to take some of mine but my friends cell phone doesnt capture it well when it is down the track. What does your car weigh? Any idea about the density altitud...

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
It seems your out quite a ways before the engine comes on. Who's converter? Pro Torque, Bullet Race Series, 8" bolt together w/ billet aluminum drive cover, 30 spline, mechanical diode, billet stator, with approximate 5200-5500 stall range. Launch control was set at 4500 rpm off the transbrake...

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
Nice running engine. Looks to have a windage issue - you’re down 10 psi as the rpm climbs. I’m not familiar enough to say if it’s correctable on the long stroke small block, but it can’t be good. What’s the bottom end and pan consist of? Any oil restrictors? Are the drains on these heads wide open?...

Re: Raising intake port AFR 195 (602 hp 400 sbc)
In terms of however much your thinking of raising the Intake port roof, if you can't get that same height increase, or a tad more ( expansion rate) to continue on up and into the plenum then it's a waste of time and money. All that such a rework would serve to do otherwise is narrow up on the motor...

Re: Raising intake port AFR 195 (602 hp 400 sbc)
Use offset rockers & weld up the pinch to widen it. You can raise the roof a fair bit without welding. IMHO width at the pinch is better than height - spreads the air over the turn better. Thanks, I thought about that it is a bit of work because you have to mill out part of the head structure t...

Re: Raising intake port AFR 195 (602 hp 400 sbc)
The heads flow well 296 @ .500 and 316 @.600 superflow bench. The porter spent a lot of time. The strange thing is the incremental horsepower gains are strongest from 6100-6200 and then it gain a couple of hp by 6400 falls a couple and then hit 600 again at 6900. There is no inflection point, just a...

Re: Gains porting afr195 on sbc 388
Wes King tried the newer super vic on the dyno versus my 300-25, the 300-25 made 25 more HP and it made more power everywhere. Street driveability and track performace are outstanding. Plus it fits under the hood of my 64 corvette with an air cleaner. What I really need is more cross section at the ...

Raising intake port AFR 195 (602 hp 400 sbc)
Is it possible to effectively raise the intake port on an AFR 195. My 400 sbc dynos at 602.5 @6400 rpm on 91 octane. After a 12hp gain from 6100 to 6200 it flatlines which I beleive indicates the min CSA is just too small. It has been discussed on this board that widening isn't possible. Is it possi...

Re: Gains porting afr195 on sbc 388
The 195 heads can make over 600hp. I started with AFR 195 eliminator Comp Ported. With a 400 sbc 10.4-1 ccompression, Comp Cams XE288hr, stock Team G intake, my 84 vette (3,250lbs with me) ran 11.42 @124mph on TA radials through mufflers at Firebird in Idaho (DA about 3500') Next installed a modifie...
