Re: Fluid COOLER Mounting Orientation
That is what I was always taught: the inlet is to be lower than the outlet to purge air naturally. Sideways is fine as long as the inlet is the lower connection. This isn't just for coolers but is good plumbing practice where fluid is pulled up and in from a reservoir. Always a steady incline upward...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
For approximately two years, I had my mind made up to add an electric vehicle to my stable. This was the year before and the first year of the pandemic. It was to be summer only so AWD was not a requirement. Due to my location, the choices were very slim as to what could be found at dealerships but ...

Re: Cleaning & Reusing Roller Lifters on Budget Build
I cleaned GM OEM hydraulic rollers in CLEAN mineral spirits, (maybe 3 oz. for each lifter) followed by a bath in ATF. Then reassemble. Do 'em one-at-a-time, so you cannot mix up the parts from one to another. Mine were filthy inside. I have done similar but I add a bit of Seafoam to mineral spirits...

Re: Belt drive turbo compressor ?
Centrifugal blowers tend to be expensive. Big used turbos, pretty cheap. See where this is going ? Not saying this is a good idea, just an idea. Seems like with some development, you might take a LARGE turbo compressor, add ceramic bearings, including the needed overdrive planet gear set, and ? #-o...

Re: Turbo Piston Top Pattern Design
Silvolite 1751H piston for Holden.JPG This is a piston I found some time ago for a Holden V6. If I remember the supposed theory at the time was the center island is to slightly soften the pressure rise to help resist detonation. It sounds a strange to my own ear to even post this but it seemed appr...

Re: 2022 Ford Maverick truck!!!
The hybrid I had on order for several months will likely not be built due to excess demand, at least that was the word from the dealership a week ago. There are plenty of conspiracy theories that abound on the Maverick forums about shady deals, price markups, etc... all to be taken with a grain of s...

Re: 2022 Ford Maverick truck!!!
The availability of the hybrid will be an issue as far as finding one to drive, but the turbo engined ones are fairly common to find on a lot so you can check your comfort level, the size and interior is the exact same. The 2022 hybrids have been sold out for the model year for a couple months now a...

Re: EFI Fuel Pressure Drop ~5psi
In many OEM installations the pressure regulation is actually downstream of the injectors Sure but within a few inches to a couple of feet of the fuel rails, not like 14 feet, right? (Real question). Adam Yes, at or near the fuel rail, but on the return to tank. The regulator should be referenced t...

Re: 8V71 vs. 8V92
Yep, didn't pursue it further for a flowbench, don't know about O/P. Eight vacuum motors and a single variable frequency drive works just fine, but very loud.

Re: Recommended header coating company?
I have had excellent results with Finishline in Milwaukie, OR. Most items have been used tubular exhaust manifolds, turbine housings and assorted fittings and brackets. They come back smooth inside and out. Parts have held up well and some are almost two decades old.

Re: Throttle body, conventional manifold?
Can't speak to the spacer and plenum volume change but I don't see where crosstalk would be much different than a conventional short ram front entrance port injected manifold like this Buick V6. Reversion maybe with a larger overlap cam would have an effect??
