All steels have endurance limit of 10 million cycles.If the part take that (at some definend max load) it will last forever.However even few overload cycles and the game change.. Properly designed steel part (for the task) will last longer than you.

Too easy conversion is to put Zetec block under CVH head (2-litre CVH).Makes fun Escort.. Friend had one turbo example;made 330 hp little over 1 bar boost.Of course I had ported the head 8)

Just the thing to remember;the woodruff keys are not to keep dampers (or anything else) stay put;they are just locating devices.It's the bolt tension or interference fit to keep them staying put.

I got a customer bring freshly honed Volvo block for assembly.First,the block was oildirty outside so not washed,crank was in the block,honing grit showing inside the block #-o
The machine shop had said that it was ready for assembly..
