Re: How much to flow heads
I will not flow test a head if it is not cleaned and dismantled first. I charge $50 cash to flow an intake and exhaust, with that I give a full report.

Re: Need advice on machine shop error on Ford Mod block
Can you imagine how much they move when they are running? How much does the middle of the bore expand compared with the deck and the thick bottom of the bore when running? Sort of makes the .0002" max taper seem ridiculous. Also, do they all expand the same amount? Ever heated up a block then m...

Re: Oil Drainback/Windage Issues
Quick testing update from this past weekend: Run 1: Disconnected accumulator, drained 2 qts of oil for a total of 6qts. in engine. Oil pressure rose with RPM until the top of 2nd gear, where it fell back down to around 30psi for the remainder of the run, which is the same pressure it finished with ...

Re: Oil Drainback/Windage Issues
I had this exact same problem many years ago although I was reving it higher than you 9000 rpm. I did fix it after lots of head scratching. Do you have a HV oil pump on this engine? Yes, the pump is a Moroso billet unit, P/N 22171. Do yourself a favour and fit a good quality std volume pump with th...

Re: Port volume dyno testing
Port volume is the wrong way to compare ports. You can have a 220cc port with a small pinch and a huge bowl, then you can have a 220cc port with a big pinch and a small bowl. They will act completely different on the engine. Port volume is something that was made up by the manufacturers to sell head...

Re: Q16 or M5?
Sorry david, I am comparing real world results with back to back testing on the track and on the dyno. I am not concerned with numbers on paper so as an experienced campainer, I have to disagree with you.

Re: Projected-tip spark plug benefits?
Way back I was racing a class with a 265 Chevy under "stock" rules. I was reading one of the Hot Rod type magazines and there was an article with a 331" Chevy build that was using surface gap plugs that came in Mercury Outboards. The engine picked up power from the usual plugs by mov...

Re: Q16 or M5?
So shifting at 8500 so peak power around 8000? I would use methanol. I have done a lot of track and dyno testing on this and if you are making peak at 8500 and shifting 9000+ I would use a racing gasoline.
