Re: 351C Rocker Pedestals Machining

Usually you install a stud in the bolt down hole, center the stud in the mill like you would a valve stem pilot, and mill the boss .250" below the flat. Don't make it harder than it needs to be. Joe-71

Re: Filling Ports on 351c Torker Intake

The epoxy will lock the set screw in place, and the set screw will lock the epoxy in place. win, win.

Re: Filling Ports on 351c Torker Intake

Staking requires drilling a small hole, tapping the hole for threads, and installing a short set screw, or machine screw with a small head that will be covered in the epoxy and not let the epoxy move. For a 330 cfm head, the intake needs to flow at least 395-400 cfm for a race engine. The Torker can...

Re: Filling Ports on 351c Torker Intake

I have worked the Cleveland Torker a couple of ways. Filled the bottom and tapered it into the ports which worked fairly well, and welded a divider in the center to create two separate planes. Terrible results! Removed the divider, and added epoxy back into the floor and tapered it into the runners....

Re: 368 Lincoln Y Block

If you really want answers, talk with Royce Brechler on the FE forum. He took a Lincoln Y to EMC that made over 525hp. He has built several stroker versions with adapters for SBC intake manifolds. Joe-71

Re: Anti-seize on spark plugs with aluminum heads?

FWIW: When I got my degree in Automotive Technology, we were taught that anti-seize was to be used on all spark plugs that were to be inserted into aluminum heads. The coating was to be on the second thread back to the seat. Nothing on the first thread and especially nothing on the electrode. That w...

Spark plug cleaners?

Years ago, I had an abrasive spark plug cleaning machine that I used for cleaning my race car plugs between weekends. It was fairly successful, but not always. This would be for some older 18mm plugs that are hard to find at times. Is this still a viable alternative in today's economy, or does it ki...

Re: small block ford dual plane intake comparison

I have a couple of adapters that I made with removable port plates for different heads. The adapters are 4" OD, and the face plate is welded at a ~45* angle. The adapters flow well over 600 cfm without a port plate in place. I have face plates with port sizes for all the popular intakes that I ...

Re: small block ford dual plane intake comparison

SBF RPM AG flow figures as cast:
1. 251.8
2. 254.03
3. 269.62
4. 265.17
5. 251.8
6. 251.8
7. 267.4
8. 254.03 for an average of 258.21cfm
The Cobra intake in my pictures above as cast flowed 253.99 cfm average as cast. The Cobra intake is a near copy of the F4B. Joe-71

Re: small block ford dual plane intake comparison

I have ported several of the "off shore" SBF intake manifolds, including the RPM, RPM-AG, Funnel Web, Cobra, V Jr., etc. I flow every manifold before I work on them, and after with flow sheet to customer. The most obvious issue I have found with every one of these manifolds is the slag/po...

Re: 351C 2V Opinions / Advice please

If you do decide on a stoke increase, use the 400 crankshaft, 351M/400 rods, and headers, dual exhausts, Holley street dominator intake, and a ~750cfm carb. I ported the heads, installed single groove valve stems, roller rocker arms, milled the rocker studs for pushrod guide plates, and hardened pus...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?

As a resident of Texas, the electric grid has been stressed to the max, supposedly, and I just received the highest monthly electric bill in 37 years, with no discernible difference in usage from years past. It was increased by 22% over last month which was the hottest month on record for average te...

Re: Making Aluminum Y Block heads

Phase/Faze 2 Y block heads are spaced evenly like the 289 SBF. The Lincoln Y block heads do not flow significantly better than the Ford Y block as cast. They can be ported to flow near 300 cfm with larger valves. The MEL heads can be ported to flow ~350 cfm with larger valves. They do get thin on th...
