Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
ChopperScott, what is your present spindle and brake set-up? I have a pair of McGaughy's forged 2" drop spindles for 2nd gen f body. I'd be willing to let go reasonable. They have never been used, they have been modified for a Wilwood brake kit that had 12.19 dia. x .810 thick rotor and Dynalite 4 p...

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
Well it's a starting point. I personally know sometimes after a long layoff [a year and a half for me because of covid and a move from La. to Ky.] just getting down the track can be a major hurdle to get over. Yes, work on the suspension first. got to get what HP you have hooked before trying to tun...

Re: 383 sbc first dyno experience
Steve,
Is the 16 degree spread on the @.050 valve timing because of the 1.7 intake rocker ? Did you check the .050 timing at the retainer on the intake to see how much the high ratio rocker added ? just curious for my own reasons. Dan
P.S. very nice results by the way.

Re: Powerglide rebuilding
I used HP Books, Powerglide Transmission Handbook by Carl Munroe. I was not building a new tranny, just a rebuild of a TSI built PG w/brake. Still going strong a couple hundred runs latter. The only problem I had was the seal on the t-brake solenoid started leaking last year. I felt it was well writ...

Re: S.B.C. Rod Bearings
If they are narrowed and have a large bevel there is a difference. I got a set once that had 9 lowers and 7 uppers. The tang is reversed if I remember correct. putting a lower in the upper has the bevels on opposite sides of the rod.

Re: Help with cam ID / roller or flat tappet?
It sure looks like a flat tappet to me. The lobe profile, cast core and wear pattern is not what I'd expect to see for a solid roller cam .

Brian, As a fellow believer I will say having moved to Kentucky close to 2 years now I have to say it is very close to your description of what you're looking for. AS long as you stay away from Lexington and Louisville big cities attract those things. It's 55 miles from my driveway to the gate at Be...

Re: 383 Build input request (E85)
You tighten the shocks if you killing the tires at launch or getting to much body separation in the rear to fast (using up all your travel to soon. This manifests itself as getting good initial bite then losing traction 20' to 30' out). if you tighten the shocks and still kill the tires try more air...

What is the opinion that the exhaust system and mufflers could be the cork causing little difference between the 150 and 250 shot of nitrous. Dan

Re: Sportsman II heads on a mild 350
Lightly ported 993 are what maybe 210-215 cfm, even stock the sportsman II's are 20 cfm or more better. The problem with the sp II heads are the huge guides and the awful small exhaust throat stock ( mine were like 81% stock) . Trim the guides give the ports some good cylinder wall side bias and set...

Re: !970's Pro-Stock Camshaft Spec.'s
It's hard for me to really get the picture in my head that today my 422 flat top piston, single 4150 carb, powerglide, sbc 72 camaro is as fast as those 1st gen tunnel rammed,4 speed big block Pro stock cars that I went to see at a match race in the early 70's.

Will the seat inserts on the Edelbrock heads take 1.94 /1.50 valves for engines needing that size valve as per NHRA .
