Re: ECM check or repair recommendations..
Had one weird one customers 6.0 last year that would set a random misfire only after 1hr or so on highway. I drove it several times with no issue. He was also having a driver side vent door issue where the driver side would open to full hot on it’s own. I did the reprogram vent door list and gave it...

Re: Crane Hi-6
I know They made the HI6M for Crane. That is a definite. Extremely reliable box. Had many of Mercruisers advance curves, selectable by a dial. Crane went under, Daytona Sensors went out on their own. Just as dependable, snd with the Marine box, a-lot more flexible. Fully programable advance curves, ...

Confused. Post before this one you show 224/228 at .050” The cam, is 216/220 @ .050" Lifter lift the 224/228 is measured at .050" valve lift, with a 1.5 rocker When cam durations are normally listed, they're based on lifter lift(.020", .050", .200") When comparing 2 cams th...

Re: Why not?: Flywheel as crank position sensor
.The Jeep 4.0L engines uses the flywheel ,but not the ring and pinion teeth. If you look, you can see the 'squared teeth' below the ring and pinion teeth. There have been different versions on the 4.0L over the years. https://www.quadratec.com/sites/default/files/styles/product_zoomed/public/product_i...

Re: How much cam is too much?
B.S.F.C. is calculated from uncorrected power. that is incorrect. Fuel flow is always uncorrected of course, but horsepower is corrected, unless specifically stated. BSFC is from corrected HP. But, because of this, you can get uncorrected HP. :) And BSFC's into, and especially, the mid .300's make ...

Re: Edelbrock, Perf Air Gap vs RPM, Vs RPM Air Gap??
When used in a boat, on the water, all said and done, yes 20HP is a very small difference. The boat top speed difference will be barely detectable/measureable. Boat drive trim and in this case Jet drive nozzle/jet impeller design will make more difference. Similar: boat prop design. 20HP is nothing...

Re: 496 mercruiser
BTW, bent rod(s) in a marine engine is many times from water either coming in from a leaking exhaust manifold (they are raw water cooled even with closed cooling systems) or water intrusion - water coming back up the exhaust. Check for mising flappers, boats parked where waves slam across stern of b...
