Re: Cam LSA to move max torque?

Do any of you run the desktop dyno and could try moving the centers? 266@ 050 , 298 off the seat, 108 LSA , 425 valve lift, IVO around 22BTC. This cam runs best at 3-4 degrees advanced and poorly at 2degrees retarded. The TQ is really good and I make competitive power as it is. I just know that 3 mo...

Re: Cam LSA to move max torque?

Thanks. This cam is the 6th edition custom. Limited to .425 lift. About 266 @ 050. Right around 299* OTS. High ramp speed. The off the shelf 110-111 LSA cams are down 5-8 HP to this one. This engine likes the timing events ahead about 3* . Trying it back 2-3* lost power but did move the reduced TQ u...

Cam LSA to move max torque?

I run my dyno a lot for my SCCA cars. My max torque is near 4800 and the car's gear set drops the RPM to only 5200. My current LSA is 108. If I get this cam cut to 104 or 105 , would that move my max torque to 5100?
Does Cam King cut VW limited lift cams? Thanks,MM

Does anyone still drill the small end for pointing a little oil at the piston?
Is it a waste of time?

Re: Rear drum brakes for an 8.8 Ford

Raybestoes make some severe duty shoes . Try them from NAPA.

If ya dont need the ebrake ,weld on the stock car caliper brackets and use the large GM front calipers .

Re: dyno question

"Your dyno" works well. For basic setup. I have a baseline car. A street car near my target HP of 100-200HP. This one was run on a Known good value Dynojet , and then on mine. Set the corrections and inertia value so the HP reads the same . "Your dyno" can also measure the coast down values.IE trans...

Re: dyno question

To do that will require two data collection systems and double the data variances along with the hardware .
Much better IMHO, to Hook the rollers , wire up the telma , add the inertia values, etc.

Re: How hot is the actual air expelled from center dividers on a brake rotor?

For starters. Look up your brake pad operating temps. Mine are 800 -1200F The rotor temps can be taken with an IR gun or temp paint . Near 600* is common for race cars. US Trans Am cars used water mist in the brake ducts for a while . I used water in my SCCA touring cars until it was outlawed for Se...

Re: Leaf Spring rear Shackle Length

I have never run a leaf car without a track bar for this reason. All of the cars that I have set up , improved enough to prioritize the track bar in front of the diffuser. You gain by lowering the roll center 6-12in in some cases . Adding lots of rear grip . Look further into it . Go faster.
