Re: 350 oldsmobile

Isky adjustable guideplates 200-AGP, mill the rocker stands down, enlargen the stock 5/16 rocker-stud threads to 7/16, then BBC-studs, Ford Pro-Magnum rockers, 5/16 pushrods. Couldnt fit thicker without enlarging pushrod holes on heads and didnt feel like pulling heads again for that. Or cheap optio...

Exhaust tech ( unequal length )

Was at a talk with a friend about her exhaust. Shes got an long-block installed with manifolds on her engine, since she wanted those for stock appearance. We were discussing about what she plans to do next, and happened to measure her downpipes. When they are equally positioned, both ends level with...

Re: Pre 1974 Delco distributor and the sawdust packing

I packed it with felt and impregnated it with as much straight 30w oil as it would swallow. No problems.

Re: Is there any benefit with a dual pattern cam outside of WOT?

What would you guys call excessive overlap for street use, 22-3300rpm cruising depending of gear and speed limit? Most cams marketed as street/strip seems to fall at or little under 60* of OL. And when taking into equation log manifolds or really short shorties with unequal tubes and no scavenging e...

If this was meant for me; i use edelbrocks and wouldnt change. Just out of curiosity, since ive never found out how much carb spacing dual holleys actually need.

Re: carb size recommendations for dual quad 363 stroker

Loosely related; whats the length of 1850 600cfm Holley? Impossible to find. Trying to determine if two of them fits next to each other on weird Offenhauser 8 3/15" carb spacing. Thanks.
From the picture on first pages, looks like they dont take that much space.

Re: I'm done with F1

Dunno. F1 for me is really exciting, when you follow it up through the year. Driver swaps, tests, tests.. Race weekend with practices, qualifying and race. And for me, the technical side is the most enjoyable. Decisions made, people(s) behind them, results, mid-season upgrade packages.. Last milleni...

Re: Are thin piston rings worth horsepower?

Im also interested about this subject. Speaking strictly about street engines, with 6000rpm limit, and 350-400hp from 350-383cui engine. How much in reality we are looking to lose with the old 5/64 ring-pack compared to modern thin ring? Especially at the 2000-3000rpm range where many street engine ...

Cam selection with manifolds

Pretty all-around question, but lets take a hypothetical situation, where you have an 355 sbc and by law its mandated to keep stock exh. manifolds, log-style. Okay, lets carry on further. When you look for generic grinds offered, manufacturers states what they want from your whole package for the ca...

Re: Offenhauser 360 2x4

Thanks for the depate, much appreciated. Seems like they are not the best out there ( which i knew when i chose my path), but they maybe aint so crap than "they" make you believe. So far, ive saved my Carters, done some really minor work to intake due to two humps on runners from casting, ...

Re: Offenhauser 360 2x4

Problem with the 360* equaflow 1x4 and 2x4 is the central divider. Seperating 2 banks of a 90deg v8 crank like that does the same thing to the intake as 'firing order wise' as a V8 with no exhaust X , H , Y pipe. The open carb spacers help balance the unevenly spaced intake pulses side to side in t...

Re: Offenhauser 360 2x4

I should use it. And asking how should i do it. Keeping both banks separated, add spacer, is there maybe a real reason it had open spacers? I have few answers why nobody uses them. They havent been made for decades i quess, for a reason there were way better alternatives even way back then. One coul...
