Re: Head Porters Competition. Your thoughts?

This sounds like a blow job contest.... how do you really judge that? Ain't no way to regulate or judge it other than a dyno/track.... and that ain't gonna happen.

Re: would like some expert opinions on Why??

He CAN'T just change the gearing, and move the power up, those 1/16 rings are DONE between 7000 and 7500. When he "seals" the engine up, only then can he try operating in a higher rpm rang, EVEN if he changes heads, they won't pick him up like they are capable while his rings are flutteri...

Re: Engine Masters 2001- Wednesday updates?

Where is Brett Miller in that list? Brett would have placed 6th in that list. At the end of the day he finished 8th after the no-start illegal manifold piece. Not bad for a guy doing it in a one car garage with old nascrap junk. Team 7 & 42 were the same people and engine apparently... guy coul...

Re: LS1 crank snout stripped threads, failed heliciol

Tap the shit out of it.... you just need a bolt that will hold it all. So it's possible you need to put a new helicoil in it, and remember the helicoil taps are not exactly like a standard tap so you should use one of those instead... they probably didn't go all the way because the tap didn't reach ...

Re: 500 CFM 23 Degree SBC Intake Port?

While I have not seen this on the intake side (that I can remember) I have seen this on the exhaust side. This is a SB 2.2 head that was ported by Curtis Boggs / RFD Stan .900 @ 282.000 The 146 cfm/sq.in. that I refer to only applies to the intake side. My 18* Dart heads had a 1.625" exhaust v...

Re: 500 CFM 23 Degree SBC Intake Port?

The problem is the valve size. If I put a plate with a 2.92 sq. in. hole on my flow bench with a very nice radius leading in, it will flow, at best, 426 cfm (146 cfm/sq.in.) @ 28" h20 depression. In order to get more cfm, the hole must be enlarged, or the depression must be greater (darned Ear...

Re: ls7 beehive springs

I've worked on a bunch of LS7 heads.... shoot me a PM with what you are trying to do and we can figure something out for you. Remember the new retainers to go with the valvespring can change the installed height and shims are a common practice in almost any performance valvetrain to setup the valve ...

Re: camshaft lobe profiles

Why are big ports lazy? The size really doesn't have anything to do with it.... but the DC does! The lower the DC the more aggressive the lobe should be. The better the DC the tamer the lobe can be.

Re: 307's are a touchie subject

noticed Manley makes a LS 3.905 bore piston , .927 sbc pin , 1.115 ch ,,, if you cut the valve reliefs in the pistons ,, u could go with a 3.75 crank or 3.80 with 6.0 rods ,,, 3.80 crank = 364 ci Diamond and Mahle also have very nice versions of that piston as well... it's a common 4.0" stroke...

Re: Cast SBC Wedge Tunnel Ram by M&M Competition Engines

They are a very capable design, I guess you could take of a single plane and bolt one on but if you design the engine around it you can make some serious steam.

Re: 307's are a touchie subject

Doesn't matter what the lifter lash adjustment is... if you make steam you make steam, 67RS502 on here has a 640hp SBC with a hyd roller in it... lot of guys don't make that with solid rollers Raised runner heads? Ported? Thats not the kind of package these guys are looking for. They are looking at...
