Re: F/T cam with tool steel lifter
Blamed the break in oil. I suspected maybe too much over the nose spring pressure. In most cases, the issue is too much spring pressure over the nose. We recommend the spring pressure at max lift to be between 240-280#. When running these break-in pressures, and PennGrade1 30w break-in oil, we see ...

Re: Holley QFT pod. How many turns u runnin?
Without the tube for the vac sec I doubt your opening the secondaries much at all, really even with it you have them coming in really slow. I'd try an experiment. Disable the secondaries and see if the problem goes away. Are you running a vac adv on your distributor? If you are and your not running ...

Re: Holley QFT pod. How many turns u runnin?
There are three position setting for the pump cam. You need to shift more shot to when the throttle is more open. The nozzle size is going to control the duration of the shot. I'd also look at where the power valve is coming in at. As for the 4 point idle it should be stock on that carb. Of course l...

Re: Holley QFT pod. How many turns u runnin?
Have you tried more accel pump shot? I'm assuming your flooring it from stand still at idle? The secondary's should be basically closed. When you suddenly open the throttle the air responds immediately, but it takes a moment for the fuel to start flowing. This is why you have the accel. pump. If the...

Re: Quality Flat Tappet Components
Why were the threads locked? There was nothing going sideways inside????? I know that I have a specific recipe for flat tappet builds. I have never had a cam go flat. Actually scared that I typed that, because I'm sure now it will happen. When I have cams ground, for typical "street" buil...

Re: Quality Flat Tappet Components
I agree buy from Mike Jones, I always recommend him. He is honest and one of the best in the business. Problem is if he does not have the needed cam core. For Chevy stuff should not be an issue, but I needed one for a FE and he had no cores. He warned me about the situation and I waited, eventually ...

Re: Flat Tappert camshaft issues.
I'd say the problem is the OEM's don't use flat tappet cams and have not since about the late 80's. There never were many companies that made the cam cores or lifters. When you look at a hydraulic lifter in order to work correctly it has to hold some of the tightest tolerances than any other part go...

Re: FT LIFTERS WTF
Seems when buying off the shelf FT lifters anymore have to budget getting them refaced. I think Mike Jones sells lifters. That's not the issue, it's the material and the heat treat that's the problem. They are to soft. The cam lobe that lifter above was on, you could have almost buffed it up a bit ...

Re: Radiators...what's the difference?
Copper conducts heat better than aluminum, but you can make the aluminum tubes wider which increases the surface area enough that the aluminum radiator will cool better. Are other things that enter into what makes a good radiator as mentioned by others, but the surface area is the primary reason.

Re: Valve spring diameter - Do it matter?
My heads are the TFS so they have the valves with a 11/32" stem. Intake valve, retainer and locks is 179.5 grams. A regular FE with the 3/8" valve stems is a little heavier And LS valves are 8mm stem, lighter than my SBC 11/32 valves. Also some prefer to use smaller head valves since LS h...

Valve spring diameter - Do it matter?
So I see are some nice hydraulic roller valve springs out there for LS motors. Spring diameter is around 1.30". Meanwhile the hydraulic roller springs on the TFS FE heads are 1.55". So provides the LS spring would clear the valve seal what other reason would they use a big 1.55" diame...
