Re: Kaase P-38 cylinder head

From the HP figures they're getting out of engines with those heads they really are a good investment from a dollars to HP ratio...

Re: High speed air bleeds

Your main jets and air bleeds do different things. There is NOT a direct correlation between changing jet size vs air bleed size. The simplest way to think about it is to look at a funnel. The small end is idle, while the open end is WOT. Changing your main jet will change the size of the funnel (ie...

Re: Braswell

What do you guys think of the Braswell B7395 carb compared to Holley's Ultra Dominator? Thanks, Jim Not really much of a comparison but I might be biased  In all seriousness from a fuel control standpoint we're going to have a better piece. Plus we custom build specific to each application rat...

Re: CARBURETOR SHOOT OUT 2012

Is there any breakdown of which of the Small Block entries were 4150-type vs. 4500-type carbs? Also, would the owers of the 4150 entries be willing to provide some high-level information re: their carbs, such as venturi & throttle size, booster configuration, 2 vs. 3 circuit? Not asking for a c...

Re: air cleaners best worst?

Doug: That looks like a nice set-up for height limited applications! Would you share some dimensions? How deep is the drop and how high does it sit above the carb mounting flange? BTW, I presently run an L-88 drop base with a 2 3/4" K&N element and a dome lid to clear my hood. I know I'm s...

Re: air cleaners best worst?

Braswell filter is 4 to 8 HP over all filter I tested I can't find a picture on Braswell's site, does anyone have photos of this filter assemby? We're updating the website right now. Our filter housing uses a spun base so the air has a smooth path to travel. The top is larger than the base the filt...

Re: 1050 Holley dP dripping from one booster

Fuel dripping out of a booster at idle can be a number of things: - Butterflies open too far causing the main circuit to start - Dirt in the air bleeds causing the circuit to start sooner than wanted - Air pulses in the engine - Float Level too high - Fuel pressure too high So first check to make su...

Re: Holley dominator work

OK... Carb Smith is/was Phillip Beshears (out of TX, did some P/S stuff)...

That appears to be a set that he had modified, they do have Holley float bowls, but who knows what he was thinking or doing up top.

The MSD lights seem to be the best, and have one of the brightest bulbs so you can see your timing mark during the day.

=D> Wow you have one Record... I'm impressed... You made the comment that if the challenge was open you'd come play... So come play. Interesting that you changed the subject and got all grouchy. Just a little FYI, at last count I've tuned EFI on cars that have taken 15 SCTA records since 2005, more...

Re: What's wrong with NASCAR's EFI?

But when it comes down to EFI tuning versus carb tuning by two people with equal experience... the EFI tuner will find the best tune far quicker than the carburetor tuner. And if you want to open up that "carburetor challenge" you can count on me being there to demonstrate :-) Well since ...

Re: What's wrong with NASCAR's EFI?

What is the 'average' cost of a NASCAR carb and how many carbs per year does a team buy and test per year? The EFI switch allows a spec throttle body and ECU with NO modification. Pretty sure that ($30k) cost comparison becomes a wash in a hurry. Tuning time is tuning time regardless of carb or efi...
