Re: Gm Fast Burn vs Ebay 200 Dart Pro 1 Copy

I have a set of unported Fastburns, they were on an engine in a Nova that I bought. Engine is apart and they will go on the flowbench pretty soon to see where they are at, then they will get ported... will see how they turn out. I have the Randy 331 thread saved. Would have been nice to see the port...

Re: Aluminum vs iron heads on a 9:1 daily driver

If cost is not a factor Aluminum wins on every variable. Try getting a good repair locally on an Iron head. Aluminum makes equal or more power and is easier to machine, port, repair, etc... They are just better. As far as power, in every top class of racing they use Aluminum heads, and its not becau...

Re: All out performance bbc

Titanium rods would be on my list. Reduced pin od as well. Get the rotating assembly as light as possible. Custom oil pan, as big "think wide" as possible. Piston guided rods would be a must too. 1 mm ring pack helps a little from where you ate at too.

For all who claim there is no power to be made in the short block.... can you explain NHRA stock eliminator engines?
Truth is its there, just less gain for the dollar.

Re: Replacement for Proffesional Products 80003

I just bought an sfi 8" external for a 383 freshen up from KMJ performance for $119, it's their Assult line of balancers. Looks to be pretty good for the money.

That will be your only regret....

I saw some 292 heads for sale on Facebook for $500 advertised as having port work done. It was in the Drag Race Results Classifieds.

Re: Building an 11 second 70's nostalgic SBC

Do yourself a favor and ditch the flat tappets... so much of a PITA these days. Too much risk of crappy cam cores and lifters. Put a roller hydraulic or solid in it and don't look back.

I won't ever do another performance engine on a flat tappet.

Re: small block mopar intakes

What is the intended use of the car? Street cruiser? Low buck bracket car?
For a street car a Edelbrock air gap, for a dedicated bracket car I would put a Victor 340 on it.
Stay away from the Mopar M1, never saw a small block Mopar that liked it over the Victor.

Re: Recommendation for Machine Shop / Engine Builder in CA?

L&R Engines in Santa Fe Springs.

They do really good work and fair prices too.
They can do any level you want, just the machine work to the entire rebuild/restoration.

When running stock eliminator run a super stock short block and hope they never want a piston out. When running a super stocker run a comp eliminator short block... and again pray about not getting picked to pull a piston and rod. And acid port the heads or port and cover it up with spray weld in s...

Re: Stock Eliminator secrets?

Easy things, air up the front tires as far as you dare. This makes them bigger and you get a little more run at it before the beams are broken. Also angle stage the car slightly, this has the same affect. Also put some stagger in the front wheels, moving one front wheel forward of the other increase...

Re: 500 hp 283 engines.

What are the engine rules for the class? Verry different builds depending on parts that are allowed.
Aftermarket heads & manifold & carbureator?
Compression ratio?
Stock bore / stroke size?
Camshaft rules?

Need more information for a good recommendation.

Re: Carb selection question

So how much hp is the heated intake costing you?

I have been around stock and super stock for a long time and I can tell you with certainty that icing the intake will make the et drop...

May not be as throttle responsive but at wot cold intakes make more hp.
