Engine Size

Is a 6" stroke LS motor on our horizon? Or, a 9" stroke FE? If so, does either really matter? OTOH, what about what's likely the world's smallest engine? here https://www.tcd.ie/news_events/articles/physicists-create-worlds-smallest-engine/#:~:text=Theoretical%20physicists%20at%20Trinity%20are,small...

Re: Edlebrock E Tec 170 on 350

in addition to IK 180, Trick Flow DHC 175; although their chambers are only 60cc. While others get great results w/ Pro-filer.

Re: GM CT350: Another Question

suggest do Not turn crank any further than is necessary to clean / straighten. FYI ... in addition to 0.010" ... 0.011" available as well (but Not 0.012", 0.013" etc). It's commonplace to mix n match a 0.010" shell w/ a 0.011" shell (to yield 0.0105"). best advice; make a solid plan, stick to it & e...

Re: GM CT350: Another Question

some 602 have cast crank some forged; dunno 'bout their rods. It's my understanding their current motors have Cast piston and not hyper (hyper more brittle and more prone to crack). New GM current production L31 (from Springfield MO USA) have forged steel crank, powder steel rods, billet steel roll...

Re: HV oil pump/too much oil on top Q

JME Still don't think HV pump help most apps; perhaps hurts this one. Suggest consider a pump with a larger pickup tube diameter. GM did just that about 1993; increased from 5/8" M55 to 3/4" M155 (std vol, std pres). Larger OD tube helps pump suck and helps stabilize low-mid performance. YMMV If ya ...

Re: GM CT350: Another Question

CT350 aka x602 is a Factory-Sealed motor intended for restricted classes of Circle Track competition; its rpm also limited by relatively weak valve springs. CT350 aka x602 is essentially an rpo L31 (x672 or x673) without its OE roller but with a smallish HFT; plus a decent but Left turn only pan & s...

Re: Cylinder Rust Quandry

A cast iron header, or steel tube pipe will rust internally with use. Rust particles will break free from the surface and exit from the tailpipe. But when operated at partial throttle, the chamber pressure can be lower than the pipe pressure which causes a reversionary air flow...along with rust pa...

Re: Cadillac 472 - what to do with it?

before you proceed further, and while motor remains assembled, suggest you perform a comprehensive leakdown test. Results of which can be very helpful in choosing a path forward.

Re: valve seal question

If OP's old OE heads' stems and "guides" do have typical play ... then they'll need more help than the square O-rings and tin cups provide. Guide Liners or replacement may be in order but at $cost$. Hence the aftermarket umbrella shedders. Nowadays, the newer production pieces are made of rubbers th...
