Re: 400 Chevy small block 5.7" vs 6" rods

beginning w/ a-m 400 block and 3.75" stroke and 500 hp range nice street or mild bracket usage .... Go with the larger R:S ratio. Many OTS 1.125 piston choices (without rails) as well as Many OTS 6" rod choices. Thinner metric ringpak has several advantages over old thick; including better sealing, ...

Re: Iron gear on billet cam question

Also, If and when you choose a cam from a reputable provider (such as Mike Jones), have that company specify exactly which type gear(s) are available and exactly which type distributor gear(s) are required for compatibility.

Re: how hot can you bake a block without damage to cure thermal coating?

Does no one else remember the Indy stock block guys searching for SBC cores from dump trucks and school buses because they'd been thoroughly stressed and heat cycled? Yes! A late friend owned and operated several car crushing locations in South Carolina. Seems they had some sort of relationship wit...

? (older) Crane Radi-Arc rockers

Does anyone have direct experience with Crane "Radi-Arc" series of rocker arms. Stud mounted for sbc. Much like a Gold Race ... But Without roller tip. Has a steel slider instead of a roller. Seems they weren't offered for long. Guessing they were introduced early 2000's.

? Direct Experience ?

Re: Melling SharkTooth Oil Pumps and High Pressures: Is this a problem?

You said earlier that zoops ship has sailed. A clever fellow can move the hub fore-aft on wp shaft; I have and I don't always remember where I parked. Also spacers/shims are available for both crank & pump pulleys. One way or another (or in combo), you should be able to use the circle track pulley s...

OP newbievetteguy In your post elsewhere, It seems you're seeking 1:1 alum sbc pulleys. speedway motors and other circle track suppliers have aluminum sbc crank-water pump pulley sets that are 1:1 ratio https://www.speedwaymotors.com/SBC-Aluminum-Pulley-Set-1-Groove-Upper-2-Groove-Lower-Short-Pump,4...

Re: SBC Mahle Narrow Rod Bearing Issue

dunno what it's called, we called it a bearing scraper ... at a pal's shop he had a heavy, conical tool about 3" OD max that had maybe a dozen or so very sharp flutes. We just held a rod assembled w/ both shells in hand ... and hand-turned the tool into the shells ... that tool chamfered the bearing...

Re: Chevy performance 12691728 vs small port bowtie vortec

JMO, if you have a new, but damaged, pair of EQ 350C heads, then (so long as they're Not cracked) have them repaired ... end your search ... install & run them. Milling heads' decks can reduce chamber volume. EQ350C are essentially replacements for GM x062 / x906; they are functionally copies but w/...

Re: Chevy performance 12691728 vs small port bowtie vortec

Nope, AFAIK, GM hasn't published flow specs for 062 / 906 vortecs ... and, AFAIK, GM hasn't published flow specs for their other sbc heads either. However, those flow numbers are all over the web ... simply google. If you have a vortec pattern intake hangin' around ... 062/906 are likely best unmodi...
