Re: Cam advice

I think he was refering to a 650 cfm HP style Holley carb not that it will make 650 hp . Dan

Re: Cam advice

The thing that stands out to me is that it doesn’t look like a 650hp combination. If it is, you are a sharper dude than I am.🤷‍♂️

Don’t sell Crower short. I have several of them in service with zero issues.

Re: Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

There is a screen in the inlet that gets forgotten about. If you have a pre- filter, take it out. Otherwise clean it periodically. I have had pretty good luck with the Holley pumps on lower hp cars

Maybe, just maybe, he has seen too many crack and doesn’t want to be blamed when it all goes to junk.

Re: 400 SBC build

Been there done that, lived to regret it. It may live and it may crack in 6 months. 383 is a better option, or a SHP block if you want the cubes.

Re: Expected et change worth the cost of new AFRs in rail

It will run until it doesn't. One thing that i learned is that when you finally switch to the SHP, you will pick up power. The block is more stable.

Use the roller cam & get the existing heads ported.
This would probably be the better route. I just don’t know a thing about those heads.

Re: Expected et change worth the cost of new AFRs in rail

I think you can run a lot more cam in that light of a car. But I understand running what you have. Everyone thinks different, but here is my take. Get the CNC version of the heads and angle mill .075". It will give you the most bang for your buck.

Re: Rocker arm ???

It has been a very long time, but I think that I was able to run around .540” gross. As stated you will break them. You must fab up an oil improvement. If I remember, I tacked diverters to the rocker to send oil directly to the ball.

I have my dyno sheet from a similar engine had more intake lift near .700. Torque peak 6000. Hp peak 6900. Pulled to 7600 with only a single digit hp fall off
Thank you for the response. Did your heads flow similar CFM?

Re: Torque peak SBC

I am not asking about a converter, i am asking about torque peak. I thought that there may be some that would have a pretty good guess from past experience. Maybe Mike can chime in. I am working with Jeff on this.
