Re: Lets Build a 408 MOPAR!
And it's more than just a slight amount of work...is 48° even legal???? SO ... it is a specific RACE engine; not some "blister pack" put it together from strictly store bought parts crate engine. NOTHING in the rules he posted would make that block illegal and those rules specifically say...

Re: drag race wheel alignment
-when the caster is equal on both sides/both front wheels, the car should 'run straight' down the track when one takes their hands off the steering wheel, not veer off to one side or the other. (which is an incorrect setting for a car that is street driven; it should gradually veer off the crown of...

They didn't stop producing it because of that, I'm sure.

Re: Vortec intake runners
Do yourself a favor and replace the guides now or put K line inserts in those. Or they won't last a month One guy said he has 8k on em w/o issue, I'll prob change the engine/combo long before then or blow it up LOL Still I felt it was usomething worth mentioning to those who want em to last. That's...

Re: LS1 Running hot
215 is considered normal operating temp. Not hot by any means. It's not considered running hot until 260+. Millions of LS engines run ALL DAY LONG at 215* and never skip a beat. What makes you think that's somehow considered 'hot' and what damage are you convincing yourself that it's causing? It's n...

Re: A question for PROFESSIONAL engine builders
http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm This guy has put a lot of time and testing into his method. A few AMA supersport and superbike engine builders I knew back in the day used it with success. The main idea is to build a lot of cylinder pressure as soon as possible. Who is that guy? What...

Re: pressed in pins (rod temperature)
I use a Goodson rod heater set to 450 degrees, and a special marker that melts at 450 degrees to verify the temp. Oven has a temp setting, but the marker just backs it up. My big deal is that if the heating of the rod leaves a blue mark, my opinion is that the properties of the metal has been chang...

Re: Something you don't see everyday.
Richard Katterjohn did a bunch of work on ram air 5 Poncho heads that have the pushrod in the intake port. He made up teardrop pushrod tubes, worth quite a few cfm. For Ford? Are you asking if Ford had RAV Pontiac heads? What are you asking? Why would someone modify Pontiac Ram Air 5 heads 'for For...

Re: Kobalt tools
I found an old Williams ratchet in the fender of an older car I was working on 6 or 7 years ago. You could tell it wasn't anything made recently. It quickly became one of my go to 3/8" ratchets. It's a vintage B52 Super Ratchet pretty much exactly like this one https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/xg...

Re: Vortec 454 ZZ502 Cam swap
I've seen a 975 steel retainer mentioned with Comp 26120 beehives and rotator eliminators on BB Vortecs. Only thing I can find is from Isky but I'm not 100% sure that's it. Though I've found nothing else, so it really has to be.
