Re: Valve guide to locator clearance
I can only go by the original springs which fitted tightly in the cups which are only deep enough for the bottom coil which is flattened and doesn't look as if it would expand at all. Strangely, I didn't think about looking for a single spring until I contacted Trickflow to ask if they had a suitabl...

Re: Valve guide to locator clearance
I may have found another solution ..... Howards make a single spring with almost identical specs as the dual comps I was going to use and they will fit the original locator cups and retainers from my Trickflow heads perfectly. The comp 986's have a .697" inner spring I/D. The closest locator I ...

Valve guide to locator clearance
Is it OK to use an I/D locator that is .015" larger than the guide or does it have to be a snug fit so it won't wear / damage the guide ???
The only locators I can find to fit the I/D of my springs are .520" and my guides are .505".

Re: Cranking pressure up and DCR down - How to ???
Where I am in Australia is 31 metres or almost 100ft above sea level so the correction factor is 0.997 and our local weather bureau gives real time readings on their website. That's how I got the 30.5 inhg figure. As many have suggested I'm only using the calculators for guidance. I used the 0.006&q...

Re: Cranking pressure up and DCR down - How to ???
Yeah, I thought they must have both been linked but I've seen guys quoting 8-8.2 DCR and 195-200 PSI cranking pressure figures for their 10:1 SCR small blocks and wondered if these figures could be manipulated or were just unique to certain combo's ??? Thanks to everyone who replied in particular Mr...

Cranking pressure up and DCR down - How to ???
Apologies in advance as I'm sure this topic has already been discussed at length but I was running my 388 SBC combo through the various calculators checking for cam suitability. Without re-igniting a discussion on the merits of DCR or cranking pressure figures I was hoping for some guidance, please....
