Re: Leftovers/junk 388 SBC

This would be a good test engine to examine DV's 128 cam LSA formula. Couple cam swaps. Also interesting to see what a high rise dual plane (rpm air gap) does on this one. Question is: Does a calculated 105 deg LSA cam work better than this 108 LSA cam? Can you get most of the way there by adjustin...

The other 14 Day has expired and will no run. This is the install package for a new 14 Day version of TMC. Note at this time TMC only does SBC.

Re: Cranking compression results are in

There are current production engines, in street cars running 13:1 on 87, at WOT ...so a lot has changed. Those same engines do pick up power on 93. But if you are expecting old stuff to run more compression on 93 than we did 25 years ago, your setup won't be the same as it was 25 years ago. But not...

Re: Cranking compression results are in

Actually RPM has no bearing. Trapped mass / VE% does.

Re: valve timing events??

The exhaust valve isn’t stopping the flow, rising cylinder pressure does. If you do it right, at peak power, the the port flow is nearly stopped by the time the exhaust valve closes. The port is already beginning to slow down before BDC. To quote the late MadBill from like 15-18 years ago, “if gass...

Re: camshaft intake valve closing

This maybe be off topic but I think it relates. The intake valve closing very much relates to the amount of intake valve area an engine has. This is vague but works out pretty close. If you had a lobe that was 280@ .020 250 @.050" .380" lobe lift. Took a 480" BBC with a 2.250 valve i...

Re: camshaft intake valve closing

so , as the OP , what about the question cold cranking compression test - does it help identify if you have the correct cam for a street car. Ive seen various articles that state you want 160-185 psi on a street car.Under 150 psi too much compression bleed off,I know given everyones experience here...

Re: camshaft intake valve closing

Since you ask about EMC and we are talking about cranking compression. I don't know how many people who are posting here now have entered the EMC, but there used to be a good number at one time. Over the years the engine and scoring rules for the EMC have changed. I don't remember what year it was, ...
