Re: Opinions/Experiences with Total Seal Quick Seat

It has always seemed strange to me that there isn't much on the web about it positive or negative. Not much promoting it or discouraging it being used either. Not a lot of info about how to "properly" use it either..For a product that has been out for quite some time now that is well, strange isn't it?

Re: Eagle connecting rod burnt cap

When I was poor I ran them like that with no issues .700ish HP If it was still round it wasn't as hot as it looks. The bearing was but the rod itself wasn't. At least that is what I think.

Re: Longevity of flat plane crank engine?

I agree with most that it is basically marketing. No real/substantial performance benefit.

What was/is the reasoning behind the C8 Vettes going with a flat plane crank?

Re: New Engine - When is it OK to switch to synthetic oil?

I truly respect yours and others opinions. But as with so many things on life we hopefully can agree to disagree . Maybe that's why there are as many different break in procedures as there are hairs on a dog. LOL! What really seems odd to me in these discussions is the lack of any info on the compon...

Re: New Engine - When is it OK to switch to synthetic oil?

My thoughts. If running any type of engine with flat tappets or similar sliding points I can see and have always followed the break in procedures most pretty much follow. High zddp, keep rpms up,heat cycle, no synthetic oils ,etc.. However , with the high precision bore preps and the extreme quality...

Re: Speaking of welding cast iron

When I was younger I had long , thick eyelashes and never had anything get in my eyes. As the years added up they thinned and I now use safety glasses every time the grinder comes off the shelf. Damn golden years!

Re: chrome rings

The grainy texture I was told many years ago was to facilitate the chrome being able to seat into the bore. I have no idea if that is correct .

Re: Methanol storing

I store race methanol for years in jugs made for fuel, available from Jegs, Summit, or speed shops. Some of my fuel has been stored for two or three years and tests perfect. The race fuel jugs last indefinately. I have had some for thirty plus years. Cross link poly (PEX) is far, far, far superior to...
