Re: Any realistic ideas on cam timing results?

Well I'm just gonna try it out. Any recommendations for a billet cam one off or anyone who can do a full hard weld? I don't want to reduce the base circle, I'd like to increase the base circle a little actually. There are no gears on the cam. Just a slot on one end for distributor.

Re: Any realistic ideas on cam timing results?

I understand that usually we'd see major trade-off between low RPM torque and high rpm power but I am a bit surprised to see this graph I'm posting now. JoesuePowerMay10~2.jpg Same engine, with a generic 272* cam, stock valve springs, still 10.5mm of lift or so and really that's about all that is ch...

Re: Any realistic ideas on cam timing results?

Thank you everyone for the replies. Thank you @bill jones. For the numbers on a similar type engine. @walter Malik they're measured at 0.050 for the tiny cam and 1mm for the larger cam, so it does accentuate the larger cam slightly. The numbers are correct. I was surprised to find any engine with ne...

Re: cheap chassis to save drag racing

I forgot to add, access to a LIFT is hard to come by! Even jobs where you used to be able to work after hours at the shop are removing those privileges because of the fear of LAWSUITS.

Re: cheap chassis to save drag racing

I'm pretty young. I like drag racing too. At the end of the day, the transmissions cost more than the engines these days for all of the easily accessible higher power engines. I can build 1000hp with cheap turbos on a nissan v8, easy and cheap. Getting it through a transmission costs more than the c...

Re: New here, Angled 4 link rear end, datsun 200sx, Help

If you're using 280ZX struts and factory or chopped factory springs. It's just going to be way too soft. I'd go on ebay and look for a used pair of good coilovers with 6k to 8k rates. Almost any pair will work, evolution, Sti, corolla (fwd or rear), s13, fr-s. Just weld the bottoms onto the strut tu...

Any realistic ideas on cam timing results?

Hello, long time lurker 1st time poster. I wanted to know what you all thought the results would be of a cam change. 2.2L 4 cylinder engine makes 145hp. Bottom end can handle 8500, maybe 10.5k on a missed shift. 85mm bore stock (can do 87mm max) 9:1 compression. Cam now: IVO 13 ATDC IVC 29 ABDC EVO ...
