Re: Anyone been able to reach Isky Cams lately?

So weeks later a guy comes in asking about building the same engine with the small cam 408W for his truck. Shows me the Windsor he just picked up and says he needs all of the components to build the same engine. I ask if he needs us to build it or if he just wants the parts and machine work? Hos re...

Re: Vacuum Pumps: Plumbing Arrangement

What new vac pump did you try? And what's the max vac should you run in a street/strip car? For what it's worth, the 565 Ford with the GZ pump installed didn't make any more power running 12" of vacuum, or 9.5" of vac. Since it's an endurance engine, I ran it for two years at 9 -10" ...

Ford Elec Vac Pump on the dyno: test https://flic.kr/p/2pChSpQ Test 2: https://flic.kr/p/2pChSiT Ran the Ford electric pump on the dyno. For the 565 it could only pull 1.5-2". To run one on the street you'd certainly need an oil separator, as I killed one on the dyno in just the short time we r...

Re: Vacuum Pumps: Plumbing Arrangement

Obviously. It happens. As a first time poster perhaps there's no realization how "tech" performance this forum is. Or how naïve the questions might be. What would be the objective if the post is of a sinister nature? Anyway, what do you think of my summary of vacuum pumps and pan evacuati...

Re: Vacuum Pumps: Plumbing Arrangement

But JC, if you were to answer their questions (and I've no interest in my post count) would it be along these lines? . Do you really think someone posting on one of the most "tech" performance engine sites really doesn't know how a vacuum pump works ? And that question would be their firs...

Re: Anyone been able to reach Isky Cams lately?

^ ... I just called today (after lunch) and placed an order for Tool Room springs. They'll be shipped today. And I talked with Rod.

My last set lost 5lbs on the seat, and 10 lbs over the nose after 11 years. Love those PSI springs. They are well worth the $$$

Street bracket racing Or would a evac setup work ok for strip Also with the setup do you remove breathers (vented filler cap to sealed) and pcv valve removed to work properly ..just vented at pump Or catch can ? Re: SBC Oil Filter: 2024's Options?

What I hope to achieve, without killing it at the dragstrip, is a tamed approach and the chance to examine all the new bits that are in this. Nothing new to you in any way shape or form. But to me, it gives that opportunity for that inspection and, if you want, peace of mind. Now can we leave it al...

This thread isn't about that so please don't derail it. If you insist on further discussion, then you can re-visit this: https://www.speed-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=67140 Then we can carry on. For what it's worth, the question about "break-in procedure" was answered in post 11 of tha...

Re: SBC Oil Filter: 2024's Options?

Around the block twice, and then a 10 mile trip on the highway, and back will about do it. What do you hope to get out of 500 miles that you can't get in 50 miles ? That's contrary to advice I'd received here on that very subject. And I was especially educated on engine oils and tribology. What I c...

Re: SBC Oil Filter: 2024's Options?

As in...not relevant? "relevant" ..." Important" Etc .... All a matter of degree. Consider your choices of oil filters like looking at a yard stick. At the 1" mark would be the cheapest, most inexpensive poor quality filter you can buy. From the 35" to 36" are the...

Re: SBC Oil Filter: 2024's Options?

That's contrary to advice I'd received here on that very subject. And I was especially educated on engine oils and tribology. What I can say is opinions vary. So what I gain is knowing I've erred on the side of caution. But it's filters I'm more interested in at the moment. What are you trying to a...
