Re: Methanol Injection

The worst part about my testing was that if I hadn't had the 2 dual needle guages in the cab to watch supply pressure as well as the stage pressures (indicating the solenoids opened or closed) I probably would have never caught the rust issue. I wonder how many people have bought the expensive snow ...

Re: Methanol Injection

I did some somewhat extensive testing daily driving 100% water over the end of this summer, look up my topic "question about 100% water injection" water by itself adds at least 10 to the octane number supposedly, I used it on diesel application but I think you'll love it. Id be VERY intere...

Re: How much heat

I've seen several exhaust manifolds on HD trucks eat the manifold to head interface because of a broken bolt. Hot air under pressure has a tendency to erode things much like water jet cutting. I've seen your exact problem in a stock 3406E caterpillar. Melted clear through the 1/2" thick spacer ...

Re: Question about 100% water injection

Test #7 Stage 1 0.50 GPH/32 CC Prometh Stage 2 Off Stage 3 1.0 GPH/63 CC 18.2 MPG As consistently as I get 18.1mpg in these results I'm going to say that my baseline mpg was a fluke. Test #8 Added 2 gallons of the same windshield washer fluid as before. Turned stage 2 back on. 18.1mpg In regards to ...

Re: Question about 100% water injection

Why would I do that? ... I miss the other set of nozzles, turbo spooled in noticeably faster. Once the little bit of meth was added it cleaned the small amount of smoke up I get between shifts. =D> touche. That was pretty funny IMO. What would be ideal is a computer controlled system, more water wh...

Re: Question about 100% water injection

Why would I do that? The prometh nozzles are the same price and a better selection. Im planning on doing the same test with them later on however. And I noticed today I have a slow drip on one of my fittings on the tank.. so found why it seems like its using the same amount. The entire time I have h...

Re: Question about 100% water injection

Test 5b 18.1mpg Same as test 5, waiting on next set of nozzles from prometh to show up in the mail, figured I'd record results regardless. Could also be considered a variation test to see what the mileage varies from the right foot. To note, each fill up has been at the same exact pump at the statio...

Re: Question about 100% water injection

Test 5
1-3% methanol, 97-99% water
Same stages as test 4

18.1mpg

1 gallon of 8 year old -20 washer fluid added. Who knows what the exact meth content was by now, but it was added to 9 gallons of water so.. 1-3% overall

Re: Question about 100% water injection

test 3b
Stage 1 60ml
Stage 2 375ml
Stage 3 175ml
18.3mpg
EGT lower 200F on average. Unloaded truck in all tests so far.

I should note, stage 1 is on at least 50-75% of the time. Stage 2 is maybe 10-20%, stage 3 is really only on hauling butt on the highway or when driving aggressively.

Re: Question about 100% water injection

I was incorrect in earlier posts, stage 3 is a 375ml. The # on the nozzles is 1/3/5.

Re: Question about 100% water injection

Starting afresh. Roy, In your original post you listed Summit as your source (?) of the nozzles. Below is a search of Summit's offerings as of a few minutes ago (maybe this has changed over the past weeks): https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/water-methanol-injection-system-nozzles?SortBy...

Re: Question about 100% water injection

...The inside of the anodized aluminum nozzle holders (snow 90 degree) had rust stains as well, but only on the side the nozzle was in.... This statement concerns me. I assume by rust (hydrated iron oxide) you are referring to an orange-brown to red colour that you noticed, which would indicate an ...

Re: Question about 100% water injection

Update #2 Test #3a Stage 1 60ml Stage 2 275ml Stage 3 175ml 19.1 mpg Ran out of water 100 miles from home so this could be a fluke. Test #3b will be another full 400 mile tank of fuel. 6oz of water soluble oil to 10 gallons of water seems to have fixed the rust issue, no rust issues in about 4-5 day...
