Detailing trick flow 4150 EFI manifold

Hello all. I’m building a 363 CI SBF for a drag racing application. I’ll be using a Trick Flow 4150 EFI intake. The manifold has some distinct raised features in the plenum. My initial thought was to remove them and just do a soft blend on the rest of the area. I want to be sure they weren’t cast fo...

Re: Holley 850...Made in China?

Wages are only one part of it. I strongly disagree that Americans should join the race to the bottom by lowering our wages and standard of living. They don’t have environmental regs in China and they don’t have a 40 hour work week with child labor protections. They don’t have OSHA to deal with. Thos...

Dry sump pump opinions please

Hello all. I’m putting together a 363 SBF for a drag race application. It will be a 15:1 dry sump engine. I bought total seal rings with a low tension oil ring, a Napier second ring and gas ported top rings. I have a Peterson vacuum relief valve and a Peterson positive pressure blow off valve. They ...

Re: Innovators west belt drive cam thrust question

I spoke to innovators west this morning.
They advised me to take whatever I needed off the face of the thrust plate.
I dropped it off at the machine shop, and asked them to remove .005.

Just an update in case this topic gets searched by someone up against the same circumstance.

Innovators west belt drive cam thrust question

Hello all. I have an Innovators West belt drive for a small block Ford. I’m building a 363 Ford Windsor for a drag race application. I started mocking it up yesterday, and there is zero end play. There is no adjustment for cam thrust. The system has a cam thrust plate with a roller bearing behind it...

Re: Rocker arm to poly lock clearance

I’m updating this post, so as to not leave it open ended. I’ve decided to sell all my stud mount stuff and buy Harland Sharp shaft mount rockers. They make a shaft setup specific to the architecture of the Trick Flow twisted wedge R heads. I’m local to HS, so I stopped by yesterday. Randy, from HS, ...

Re: Any freshwater boat engine experts here?

I have a 512 BBC I/O that is raw water cooled. I use a mercruiser sea pump with a rubber impeller. It is plumbed with marine water hose with a stainless wire impregnated into the wall so it won’t collapse. My water pickup is on the bottom of the boat, flush with the running surface. I don’t use the ...

Re: Rocker arm to poly lock clearance

Thinking on this, I realized that adding lash caps will effect the poly lock height in order to keep my geometry correct. I may be at the design limit with a stud mount rocker arm and this cam / application. #-o It may be that some shaft mount rocker arms are the way to go. Any other thoughts or adv...

Re: Rocker arm to poly lock clearance

Yes, 7/16” studs. I have .025 clearance The open pressure will be around 700. I do plan on spinning the engine to 7500. Thanks for the advice. After you dyno it be sure to check for shiny spots on the poly locks. That was how I learned. plus it bent a couple push rods as well  Yikes! :...

Re: Rocker arm to poly lock clearance

Yes, 7/16” studs.
I have .025 clearance
The open pressure will be around 700. The PSI part number is DR424R not 454. The 454 was a typo and I can’t edit it now.
I do plan on spinning the engine to 7500.

Thanks for the advice.
