that motor wants a 7448 350 carb. a 4412 will pull 600 cfm on a flow bench about same on a dyno with the whirly bird on top. drill .025 hole in squirter feed tube with 30 cc pump and .025 squirters.

Re: Reciprocating weight tests ?
i have built many 2 barrell 350 circle track motors and the ones with light cranks rod and pistons always accelerate quicker. On my dyno they make about the same tq and hp. On the race track its a different story. Im not going to have a pis---- match about it.

Re: Has Anybody Successfully Ran a Dyno In A Residential Neiborhood
I just run into 2 truck 5 inch mufflers. I have 2 24 x36 sections for garage and exhaust emptys in second section with doors closed and ceiling fans on. I have never had a complaint from neighbors.

Re: 268HP iron duke.
I did a iron duke many years ago for a circle track aplication. It was for a long time customer who ran asphalt 4 bangers. I flowed the head and was surprised that intake and exhaust flowed about the same. The cam was stock so i sent it to bullet for regrind. It had a burned up piston due to not eno...

Re: Cold valve lash settings - tighter or looser?
I must be crazy because on probably 100 race car steel heads steel block solid lifter engines it didny change from hot to cold. Maybe .001 and thats not worth adjusting valves again. Aluminum heads yes it will make a differance. I never had a aluminum block and aluminum heads on my dyno. I did some ...

Re: Chassis dyno/engine dyno torque
when you have an engine on a dyno stand you get flywheel tq and hp. When on a wheel dyno your running thru a tranny a driveshaft and a set of rear gears plus tire deflection and traction. Its a whole different situation. I have a water brake dyno for only carbed engines. Wheel dynos are good for fue...

Re: Starting engine on engine stand
i built a flathead ford for a fellow and he insisted i run it before he picked it up. I had it on a engine stand with rad and it was smooth running. He just had to snap throttle and it almost flipped over. Its the flywheel effect.

Re: front pan seal sbc in car repair leak
I think i am going to clean right stuff out clean up everything again and load up with Seal All. Customer wont pay a big bill. He just looks at it and talks about it. It is a eye catcher but not very road worthy. I have used Seal all before and its pretty impressive for the price.

front pan seal sbc in car repair leak
Got a 48 ford cabover body mounted on a 1 ton chevy chassis in the other day for some welding and noticed front pan seal leaking badly. Motor will have to come out to replace pan and gaskets. Tried cleaning old silicone out and resealing with right stuff. Let it set up overnight and fired up this mo...

Re: Vortec head
get the kit from alexs parts. Use 1.94 and 1.50 valves. Tell him solid or hydraulic. Mill for clean up only. 3 angle valve job. They are pressed in studs so pin or screw in are mandatory. They work well with 4412 and gm 602 crate intake.

Re: Fatal Mistakes....
Had a race engine on dyno with low oil pressure. I knew all clearances were good and oil pump was also. Pulled pan and tied coffee can to oil pickup pulled all plugs and cranked it. Was losing a bunch of oil at distributor to block oil passages. Pulled distributor cut grooves installed O rings and a...

Re: Vortec CT350 crate in a street car.
I have probably done 20 of the 602 gm crate engine upgrades. Every one of them got dynoed on my old go power. You have to remember they are pressed in studs. You can shim .030 and still be safe with stock springs to 6300 all day long. Every one had 650 dp. With the bullet cam you dont have to change...
