Re: Engine rules?

Typical "factory" or "street" stock CT rules. Agree in general with tenxal though not necessarily with his brand specifics. Can't stress enough if you want to be a winner, you need heads and cam from from someone who knows and cares what they're doing. This eliminates about 90% o...

Re: So electric may just be a passing fad again

I believe Shell Oil Products U.S. says fuel cells will be the ultimate solution, but being in the fuel business they would say that, wouldn't they.

Vette's had extensive ignition shielding, which IME was often removed for easier tuning and maintenance.

Re: Ring Seal

This was back when kieth black hyper pistons had just came out, he had installed them with an extra wide top ring gap. After closing the ring gap back to normal specs all his problems stopped. He didn't tear the top of a piston clean off when the ring butted and seized? He never said what 'normal' s...

Re: Pump????

I think Stewart would say that your stat initially was stuck closed. Putting the body back in provided a pressure increasing restriction which raised the boiling point. Coolant speed (beyond still when coolant blocked by dead stat) had nothing to do with it. I'll invoke the sainted Smokey who said t...

Re: Pump????

The speed or duration of cooling system flow as a temperature influence has long been disputed at Stewartcomponents.com, referenced here at Speed Talk many times.

Dear Algebra, Stop asking us to find your X. She's not coming back. Off topic but wth, told by my 7th grade algebra teacher. Farmers kid comes back from college, dad asks what he learned. Kid says PR^2, dad smacks him upside the head and says "pie are round" Cornbread are square...

Re: Unbelievable engine survival main cap break

Yep, I should have just said a very low rotating weight clutch & tranny, instead of referring to the cobbled up creation of one Ernie Brookins to circumvent a sanctioning body's prohibition of purpose designed circle track racing transmissions like Brinn and Bert. Its construction evolved as the...

In the middle of the last century, all the mail order speed shops sold strap kits. I bought one without knowing
I didn't need it. :)

Re: Unbelievable engine survival main cap break

X2 to Pro's comments about circle track engines though I'm certainly not in his league. Years before cell phone cameras, we broke the center out of a cap while racing. There was enough left to retain the bearing and the engine kept running at race speed. The first indication of trouble was some flam...

Re: Selling Your Car?

There may be more to your situation. You mentioned "30 yrs". Consult a tax practitioner
about classic car/wasting assets capital gains tax exemptions. Also
for help calculating the basis, or what you have in the car, vs. the sale price if it
is subject to Federal tax.

Re: Selling Your Car?

In general, if the vehicle was personal use only with no business connection, no. Typically the buyer will have to pay sales tax on the purchase. If you live in some greedy state like Massachusetts, maybe. Also, depending on how vehicle registration and tags are handled in your state, you'll want to...
