Cooling fan shootout - Engine Masters

Thinking on about this vintage build I have going on and the thought of cooling the iron headed SBC started the mental cooling committee. Researching this subject has left me unfulfilled to say the least. To break it down, the stock non clutch fixed steel fans are taking about 30hp from the engine. ...

Re: Computer controlled enforcement of speed limits in the EU

I'll see if I can dig up a copy. When I was in CA, I got a dog from the local Boxer rescue, and the contract was exactly what you said yours was. The rescue "owns" the dog, and they could come and take it, at any time, for any reason. The contract also stated that if they showed up at my house, I w...

Re: Computer controlled enforcement of speed limits in the EU

Reminds me of my favorite song. My uncle has a country place No one knows about He says it used to be a farm Before the "Motor Law" And on Sundays I elude the eyes And hop the turbine freight To far outside the wire Where my white-haired uncle waits Jump to the ground As the turbo slows to cross th...

Re: Building an 11 second 70's nostalgic SBC

The heads don't leak or haven't yet, lol. They were ported by Reed cams back in the late 70s early 80s. They sound about perfect for what I am doing. I'm going to use CamKing for the valvetrain. Any ideas on what they flow? If not I can get them flowed and checked over once they are in my possession....

Re: Computer controlled enforcement of speed limits in the EU

Do you have an article on this that shows what youre saying? Its not that I dont believe you, I actually want to read it. To be honest, we all knew this was coming eventually. They want to control everyone and that control is born out of the lowest standards (or those with no standards) from humans...

Re: Building A Nostalgic 1970s Fuelie Headed 350 SBC

Well, he runs it in Stock...... so it kinda has to be a Pontiac. I posted a couple of pics and flow numbers for some 186 SBC heads in your old school build thread. The heads on this Pontiac 350 flow way less than those did. I used to run a 75 Esprit with a 350 - I really loved that car. Will check ...

Re: Building A Nostalgic 1970s Fuelie Headed 350 SBC

A friend of mine runs a 68 Firebird in Stock. He wanted to try something different, so he build a 350 for it(usually runs a 400). Heads have 1.96” intake valves, cam is only .420 lift...... weighs around 3250 with that motor in it. 10.99 on its first pass down the track. You have to think it could ...

Re: Building an 11 second 70's nostalgic SBC

Who needs bolt holes? But I have those too, I never pay more than 100.00 for virgin head cores, ever, and thats only if I need them. OP-I have stacks of virgin fuelie head cores hot tanked and magna fluxed of every casting number., Id be happy to bring a set to Georgetown next time I come. 461 X 46...

Re: Building an 11 second 70's nostalgic SBC

Get the 7 blade GM clutch fan and the flat rib belt alt WP crank pulley set from a 3rd gen carbed 305 . or gm truck. Be sure the chin spoiler under the rad support is there. Note the car weight of Vortecpro's 66/67 Chevy II.l. These were very desirable for a fast sbc street racer back in the day. S...

Re: Building an 11 second 70's nostalgic SBC

Just be careful with vintage heads. They are not as robust as new aftermarket stuff. They can be thin and problematic. One of my best friends got a set of 292's back in the day and carefully followed all the porting instructions in the Smokey Yunik 'Power Secrets' or whatever article it was in. I l...

Re: Building an 11 second 70's nostalgic SBC

anybody have an idea where I can get boxes to ship Rob a set of heads?I'm gonna send him a set of early 80s late 70s port÷d 292 heads.I love the idea of this project and would rather have em running than collecting dust. Just checked the shop for some cyl head boxes, they are all cores so I’m still...

Re: Building A Nostalgic 1970s Fuelie Headed 350 SBC

What’s the deal with these later blocks anyway, some say they are thinner, others say the later 70’s 010’s are thinner...
