Re: Carter AFB woes
I did actually try guitar strings but none of them were quite the right size to be effective.

Re: Carter AFB woes
Just a quick update on the AFB problems as I've just got it solved. It was indeed a problem with the MABs. I made a 4" long "poker' that would just fit down the bleeds by sandpapering down a piece of steel wire (drills aren't long enough). I kept working them in and out and a very small am...

Re: Carter AFB woes
Thanks for all the replies. Here’s a bit more info: floats checked in warm water - both OK not sure of inlet seat size (I can check) but they came in the rebuild kit. I’ve also tried running the old ones - problem still there float level and drop checked multiple times floats are parallel with sides...

A...

I've checked and rechecked float levels and drops and alignment so I think they're OK. Any further thoughts? Many th...

Re: Carter AFB woes
Thanks for the replies. I'll check bowl vents but I think they're ok. Fuel pressure is 4 psi and there's no evidence of it running out of fuel. When I take the airhorn off there's a reasonable amount of fuel in the bowls - not too little or too much. So no evidence of overfuelling or underfuelling f...

Carter AFB woes
Hi. I am having a problem with a single Carter AFB. This is a small version, probably around 500 cfm, fitted to an early 60s Bristol. Engine is a 313ci Poly V8 which Chrysler used in various late 50s to early 60s cars for Canadian and Australian markets. The carb is original (3131S). This particular...
