Re: rich and lean O2's

Okay guys here's a situation I'm looking for ideas how to tackle this. I have a SBC drag engine running methanol, 23* deal with high compression. The O2's are spread significantly. this happens after initial launch and continues throughout the run. One bank will run around 5.6 and the other 6.10. '...

Yet we spend all our time trying to get oil hot to make power, might be worth looking at a water oil heat exchanger and then running a thin oil.

Re: Rich 3000 rpm cruise

Just out of curiosity because I’m learning here, off topic. From what I understand there are 4 corner idle carbs and 2 corner idle carbs. 4 corner carbs idle on all 4 barrels via front and rear metering blocks. 2 corner carbs idle off the primary metering block and front barrels only. However, ther...

Getting the bore round is the challenge with the big bore, in fact it won't be round so lets say getting an acceptable seal is what makes or breaks them.
Wear will have more to do with tune and selected components.

Re: Couple of questions on breaking in a new HFT cam

Bit of work but I like this idea, as long as the old motor is pretty clean inside.
Does a heavier oil up your oil pressure ?

Cheaper manufacturing, cheaper to the consumer.

No other advantages for the end user, you're not going to replace half of a throw away item.

Unity video ties it together.

Cam is NLA BTR 239/254 .631/.610 114+3

They cut the AFR heads to 62cc, don't know if they were flowed before or after. 72cc from AFR ?

Wrong heads for that motor anyways.

Re: Port Energy Anomoly?

Big ports don't need big cams. DV showed us nothing again. No but the AFR has a smaller intake. But by his measures the head with the smaller intake valve has the potential to move more air. And it did at lower engine speeds. I wonder whether it's the old flow bench doesn't pull as hard as a high r...

Then it's all about curtain area.
Both the ports are probably too big for a small cam.

Re: Port Energy Anomoly?

Smaller valve head made less top end more bottom end, no surprises there.
Same thing a month earlier.

AFR may have to get on the front foot with this one and explain what the head is meant to do.

On that single plane it will benefit from a plenum divider. Whether the plenum divider needs to full height isolating the left and right side of the plenum completely
Yuk.
