Re: SBC Speedmaster Main cap oil feed hole
Well if they can't get that right...what says there aren't other hidden problems? He won't hold me responsible, but you and I know that if I assemble it and it fails, he won't be happy. I just don't understand the reasoning behind it.

SBC Speedmaster Main cap oil feed hole
A customer I've known for a while bought a bunch of engine parts over the covid shutdown and brought them to me for assembly...speedmaster sbc block... So looking it over, I see the feed hole in the rear main cap...it's maybe .350-.375 in diameter! WTF??? I don't think I'm going to assemble th...

if you don't like the pressure, just use a different spring combo for break in...single spring with 250 or so open psi.

Re: Street 440 Stroker
Planning to build a 440 stroker in the 550hp range, but don't have much BBM experience. Going in a 1970 B-Body. 3-spd auto. Mostly street car, some highway cruises, occasional visit to the strip, want it to run on 91 octane and have good enough vacuum for brakes and possible fuel injection. Will ha...

Re: Harold Brookshire lobes and intake centerline.
Ultradyne was known for wanting 6° of advance in most of their grinds...so that may be why your friend told you that?
His lobes can have quite a large amount of asymmetry so it's best to check them using the lobe center line method and check .020 before and after max lift to find true center line.

Are you saying the cam was NOT degreed in?

Re: 702 heads on a low RPM 496?
We used Isky's 221-232@ .050 cam, .543-.560 lift on a 114lca. Stock semi closed chamber heads, just typical 3 angle style valve job, back cut both intake and exhaust valves due to wide lobe center cam. Flat top pistons, zero decked, 6.385 rod, rpm intake and Edelbrocks new AVS 2 800 cfm carb. Accell...

Re: 702 heads on a low RPM 496?
Do some chamber work to lower the comp down to 9.6:1. We just did a 496 with semi closed chambers, flat tops...9.6:1, no port work, hyd. Isky cam and rpm intake...made 472HP and 548TQ. Cam is small 221@ .050.
