Re: Dual Quad tuning tips?
Update: Engine seems way happier on ported advance and the 14 degree bushing (10 degree was suggested, I started conservatively). Idle is more stable, return to idle is dead-on consistent (heaviest MSD springs). However, I will have to retune IFRs and then, slowly, make sure all else is in tune. Tha...

Re: Stock 63.5 Galaxie tune-up info?
Don't sweat the oil choice, as long as it's a name brand 10-40; any cam lobe wear on that old lump occurred fifty years ago. Don't even think of touching the exhaust manifolds. The fasteners are welded in there now. Change all the lubricants and filters; oil, air, fuel, transmission, rear axle. Flu...

Stock 63.5 Galaxie tune-up info?
Acquired a bone-stock 390 63.5 Galaxie to use as a daily while my Torino is parked (needs trans rebuild). Will restore and sell next year. In the meantime, I'd like to go through it and get it running as best as possible. Factory service manual is on the way, but I'm sure there's some wisdom to be h...

Re: Dual Quad tuning tips?
I'll give that some thought. I can't run double pumpers unless I modify them for metering plates because this is all on an inline, separated dual plane intake I modify the Holley double pumper to fit side by side on those intakes. The only thing you’d need is the adapter to change the carb stud pos...

Re: Dual Quad tuning tips?
What would you recommend? I'm open to changing the combo on the future, but I would like to get this to run well now. It's a very mild combo, but I do understand I might not have chosen the carbs right. That's ok. I'm here to learn, so any selection/tuning advice is very welcome I’d run a set of 85...

Dual 1850s. Same car from my dual quad postTMP Carbs wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 3:44 pmDoes this engine have the single four barrel still or does it have the dual 1850s? If single four, what is it?TheGreatPumpkin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 3:20 pm
I tend to agree with you but the evidence says otherwise. Yes, coated headers. Lower hose has spring in it.

Re: Temperature issues
If you've actually tried all 3 pgs of suggestions and nothing has changed, a few more things to check: 1)- calibrate the temp gauge that has you worried. Or plug in a cheap replacement for a checkup. Generally, if the rad is not spitting water, its not overheating regardless of what the gauge says....

Re: Dual Quad tuning tips?
Update: car is running in a decent range. Idle circuit is rich at cruise under 2000rpm, goes lean before the mains come in, and goes significantly lean (1.1, 1.2 Lambda) on light accel. With slightly harder accel, pump shot covers any lean spot there, so I know I'm close, just needs more signal but...

So, here's the tune and the update. Went back to the stock 1850 metering blocks, with the only change being that I drilled and tapped for the IFRs TB P: ~0.020 slot TB S: ~0.380 depth IFR P: 0.020 IFR S: 0.025 IAB P: 0.062 IAB S: 0.018 Jet P: #64 Jet S: #70 PVCR: 0.035 MAB P: 0.025 MAB S: 0.023 EB: ...

Re: emulsion tuning for dual quads? experts needed
Also, Fbird, i know we talked about this before but i want some clarity, should I drill like a single 1/8" hole in the gasket for manifold heat crossover? Or one on each side?
Not today, but whenever the tune is all done

Part of that problem is that Voodoo hyd cam is a Baby cam for the dual quad engines. The cam for the old Shelby dual quad engines was quite a bit bigger duration@.050". Solid lifter. about 244° @.050" These deep breathin dual quad engines make more power but only if you let it eat... Cam ...
