Re: Does quench affect power?

Just an honest question, what are you looking to "improve'? And what do you think you will gain? Just curious. How much time are you willing to spend to make a "gain" that you can't even define? Not trying to be a jerk here, I just don't understand the obsession with this.

Re: Dyno test info

If you are using a Super Flow dyno. You do understand how ME% is used in correcting HP and not just weather data? Stan  Note I don't own a dyno. Do You own a dyno? If so is it a Super Flow Dyno? If so open a SFD file where it shows the STPCor Factor as being great than 1.07. In most cases thi...

Re: Dyno test info

14% correction seems like a lot for that weather and altitude. Tuesday it was in the mid 80's very high humidity and baro in the toilet here, 1200 ish elevation, corrected 7% If you are using a Super Flow dyno. You don't think that has been beat to death over the years?

Re: 128 my take, anybody see it like this ?

D. Vizard claims in his SBC book that he has tested well over 10,000 cam combinations in 40 yrs of cam testing. In another publication, he says the number 19,200 cams. I have no reason to doubt either claim. Has anybody tested more? I know this much: I will take his advice until I find someone who ...

Re: 128 my take, anybody see it like this ?

Why should our discussions have to become personal and demeaning? We are all adults, if you have a different opinion or view, that is awesome, why can’t we express that thought in a respect way? We have a tremendous community here with some of the most talented and knowledgeable people in this indu...

Re: Does quench affect power?

That's my point it's not 15hp, it's minimal. Set it to .040-.050, and call it a day. Thread over, lol I varied the injection location, injector size, injector pattern, EOI and fuel pressure, which opened a 10 % power influence on a 2-Liter NA-engine. Squish and it's consequences on the design made ...

Re: 128 my take, anybody see it like this ?

I fixed/freshened a Edelbrock 350 crate engine some years back. Cam went flat. Honed, rings, bearings, polish crank, new gaskets etc. Edelbrock, sent him the "rolling thunder" hydraulic roller upgrade, cam, lifters, spider, gaskets, pushrods, for like cost, it was MANY years after the warranty, it w...

Re: Does quench affect power?

On what kind of engine? 2-valve wedge at 6000rpm or 4-valve pent roof at 11000 rpm? On anything. The majority of the guys on this site are referring to 2 valve domestic stuff, except for hoffman, who always quotes formula 1 stuff for some reason. Lots of theory for something that is minimal at best...

So have we figured out how much it affects power yet? 13 pages, no definitive number, just a bunch of theory and I thinks and it seemed to helps. Re: Speaking of welding cast iron

I love those videos. Especially the ones that they do more of the head rebuilding. As hacky as it seems to be, they actually do a decent job, and the heads would absolutely function. The ones I have seen, they replace all the guides, replace all the seats, re cut the seats on a makeshift set up on a...
