Re: Hot stock bbc intake

Sure typical comp eliminator style biuld. Heads and block machined, cryoed, finish mahine and cryoed again. Ultralight crank, polished, knife edge, oil shedding, +.400 rods, custom piston .6 mm rings, 273@ .050 Cam. Custom Ti valves, months worth of porting. Engine Analyzer Pro actually put power a...

Re: Hot stock bbc intake

We make over 800 with pump gas and the gm dual plane intake. Got an og '68 163 on a brodix oval prt 500 inch that made 760. My pump gas ZL1 block and 074 heads made 785 with a repop 163. With unlimited $$$ you can make power. An you make 1000??? Could you tell us about the pump gas engine with the ...

Re: Throat percentage

Don't listen to mag.. if its a NOS deal, it really doesn't matter what it does on motor. You just need to get the fuel and oxidizer in and exhaust out. A 92 throat isn't going to kill it. If you are concerned about flow, work the bowl and short side on both intake and exhaust. Those heads out the b...

Is there a chance the intake tract may be too long?

Re: SuperStock PowerPack SBC Heads

I'll bring this back up since no one shows much interest. Back in the late 80's we were at Lingenfelter's shop. A 265 superstock engine was on the dyno trying spacers, timing, etc.. He made the statement that if he could get it to 440 hp it would dominate the class. Granted the 265 uses a slightly d...

Noticed the old Comp -8 lobes in 6th test. Pretty good lobes.

Re: Camel Hump head porting and setup

I think you did great. That took a lot of time. Now get a good valve job and make sure the top angle shows around the entire seat. Sinking the valve to get a top angle should help flow and lower compression a tad. I am not saying to sink the valve .050 but just enough to get a good top angle.Get a g...

Re: Low tension ring?

If you try to get all the scratches out chances are you will have too much clearance. Just hit each cylinder a few times with a little faster up/down motion to get the crosshatch at about 45 degrees, make sure your end gaps on the rings are sufficient and assemble the engine. The scratches look bad ...

Re: Low tension ring?

The problem that usually occurs with a out of round bore using low tension oil ring is it will push alot of oil into catch can. Measuring with a dial bore gauge doesn't tell the whole story. I would bolt cylinder head to block, sit in a 2nd ring at desired gap and shine a light from behind the ring...

Re: 383 sbc first dyno experience

It's still way under headed, under valved and under cammed to make any decent gains.Im not sure why you expect anything different to happen? You have the capacity to do what it needs, but refuse too ? I guess you have a average under headed, under cammed, under carbed deal. You seem to understand the ...

Re: What will this cam change do ?

Well, since no one else is answering, I'll hazard a guess. I'm not a Chevy builder and have zero experience with that combination. I would have to see the advertised durations so I could calculate overlap. A larger cam doesn't always make more power and a smaller cam doesn't always lose power. An e...

Re: Best Exhaust To Add Torque To 283?

Leave the exhaust alone for now. The cam is about 15 degrees too large. Something about 200 @.050 on a 110-112 lobe separation will have more torque. A single pattern or a dual pattern with maybe 4 to 6 degrees more exhaust would be my choice. Getting rid of the spacer is good. You want a dual plane...

Re: 350 Vortec Head Track Test Update

Someone tell me where the video is of the 7700 run. What I think I saw was the converter went about 5800 on the hit. The 1-2 shift was about 6400 and the rpm's did not drop. Pulled to about 6600 then the 2-3 shift, rpms dropped about 400, pulled the rest of the way through about 6700 and hit the chip...

Re: Mill Edge of Piston Dome or Open Combustion Chamber?

Work both the piston and head. Get the clearance to where you can put the pistons in the block, set the head on the engine and rotate the engine over without anything hitting with NO head gasket. When you put the head gasket on you will be fine. I would assign each piston a number so you can keep th...
