I suggest checking the angles of the intake face of the manifold vs the angle on the face of the heads. You can do the this by using lead pellets. Drill a 1/8" hole in your used intake gaskets. Drill the holes between the paired intake ports, even with the floor and roof of the ports. Do this o...

Keep in mind that a welded head can affect the head gasket seal. A head gasket regardless of the design can deform or embed into the soft welded area of the head reducing the sealing stress in that area. The reduced gasket loading can result in combustion leakage and another failure.

You might want to check out the March 2014 issue of Hot Rod magazine. In Marlan Davis' Hot Rod to the Rescue feature, there is a very good step by step procedure for checking the intake manifold fit and how to make corrections.

I ran the Jeep In Stock Eliminator. I had used Lunati, Crane and Comp Cams. I suggest you take the cam you ae planning to use to a shop the grinds and polishes cranks. Have them polish the cam in the proper direction. A shop that grinds crankshafts should be aware of this problem because it can happ...

I suggest checking which direction the cam was rotated when the cam journals were polished. I had the same problem on a 4.0L Jeep race engine. If the cam is polished in the wrong direction, the lay of the cam journal material will scrape off the cam bearing material leaving just the steel cam bearin...

O2 Sensor Locations in Header Tubes

Is there a minimum and/or maximum distance from the exhaust valve that the sensors should be located? How critical is the variation in distance of the sensors from header tube to header tube?
