Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump for Drag Race

No the 4 psi is fine.. Yes to jet extensions. Carb may need minor air bleeds tweek. The 3310 has problems opening the secondaries 100% @ WOT. Add brass sev vac pick up tube in the Vac sec pick up passage to the venturiii. Better vac signal to the vac diaphram. What is the pri and sec main jetting now?

Re: Dual Quad tuning tips?

Why do you now want to jump up to 68 from 63 IAB? (Its very sensitive to tiny IAB size changes. Hard to define it to a jet size label.) Just progress up from 63 a bit bigger at a time till its right.. Hand file the 63 IAB with a 1/16" .062" drill bit a hair at a time and try it for effect (air clean...

Re: Dual Quad tuning tips?

Primary IAB will be between.062" and .070". you need to finetune that to get balance. This is why I hand hone mine to size VS selecting various off the shelf sizes.
IFR may be a hair too small..

Re: Dual Quad tuning tips?

To quicken up main startup lower PV to 6.5" vac rated.
or raise fuel bowl float level or decrease MAB sizes.

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

A off the shelf comp XR274R10 would serve that purpose.

comp #11-770-8 It should check 238/244 in the engine.
You can play around with the installed position for effect.
My intuition and experience is telling me to still get it ground on 112 LSA.
Nice its just a phone call away to do that.

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

I take it that the engine is still together and in the car with the SR cam. Have you tried loosening the intake and exhaust valve lash 0.005" and seeing if the shortened duration and less overlap makes any difference? Stan Keep going + .005" at a time until you get the desired effect in Overdrive.....

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

Whats the specs on that one? The Voodoo cam is 273/279. 243/249 @.050" 110 (106/114) . .655"/..663". .018" hot. sorry for the edit. I suggest getting it custom made on 112 LSA (107/117) for effect on this car with OD trans. A simple phone call. He said he had a different new custom cam on the shelf...

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

The easy and best solution if you want to keep all the horsepower if this racey cammed 700 HP 540 racing engine is to NOT DRIVE in the GiRlLy mAn GeAr at low speed. Stay out of Overdrive "Girly mAn's gEaR" Race engine like gEaRz. Drive it in the right gear to keep the rpm up @ part throttle. Its not...

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

Amazes me with silly blanket statements such as 'wide LSA flattens tq curve'......when real world testing proves otherwise. Three examples come to mind: - Richard Holdener's LS dyno test 2 1/2 yrs ago of identical cams except for LSA. 108,112,120. The 108 made best low end tq AND best hp. It was eq...

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

He said he had a different new custom cam on the shelf. 254/261 on a 112 i guess It is still too big of a cam reguardless of the LSA It will not be OD cruise gear friendly. But the Voodoo 273/279 112 LSA cam will be and still GLH on the street in this 540 BBC. (When you do get this VooDoo cam and c...

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

There is only 3 degrees difference in overlap between the DV single pattern BBC head formula cam (103 lsa) This 103LSA DV cam may like a 99° intake C/L just dandy (99/107) centers. ( That has to be drag test determined) And the UDharold good choice for racing (not overdrive) 107 LSA dual patern cam....

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

Yes I was aware that the cam u have is the 502A5lun cam... Unfortunatly Harold has now passed. When looking fir a new better street cam for you my instinct was to go for the milder 502A3 lun UDharold street strip cam. Its also a UDharold Ultradyne cam.. (now offered by Lunsti) But I'd really like y...

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

Is the 99 c/l DV single pattern not very close to the 101 in take c/l of the UDharold dual pattern cam? I get 102.9° LSA using the DV Big Block head formula 540cid 2.19" valve single pattern. Monster *WOT* torque but not drivability in OD at part throttle.. There is a confusion on WOT torque "low en...
