Re: Question for the BBF guys......

Is there any side benefit to Ford having put the valves that close together? The Ford has a much larger bore than a Chevy, so why did they put them that close? The canted valve thing was always about de-shrouding the valves, but it seems Ford went overboard. Are the Fords getting any benefit from ho...

GM 604 sealed crate motor theory....

I borrowed a head and intake from my old boss. These are used on the sealed 604 crate motor. Aluminum head 12367712 and aluminum single plane intake. I was struck by how small the ports were in the intake. Anyways, the heads flowed .5---267.6 .55--255.1 .6---257.2 With intake .5---226 .55--228 .6---...

I ended up with some pistons, and those are the specs for them.

Re: Explain this GM 602/604 Crank Balancing numbers

I'm curious if anyone could explain to me what is going on here with these balancing numbers as instructed by GM on their sealed race 602/604 engines. I'm not an engine builder or professional, but these are weird. IMG_20211103_115632302.jpg You you tell me exactly what document that chart is in ? ...

Why is a 350 called a 602?
That's "lingo" in the sealed crate engine world. 602 and 604 are common GM crate engines.. last 3 digits of the factory part no.

Re: Explain this GM 602/604 Crank Balancing numbers

1: If that were the case the end journal numbers would be greater than the middle two....in a normal scenario. I'm not sure about that. My understanding. The point of external balance is because there wasn't room to make the crank counterweights big enough. I have never balanced a crankshaft so bel...

Re: Explain this GM 602/604 Crank Balancing numbers

One thing I forgot is on these vortec motors, the flexplate has a small weight on it. This is standard issue. I've never seen personally or heard of balancing where you have 3 different weights hanging off your crankshaft and I can't imagine this is the mathematics for balancing the assembly withou...

Re: Guys who CNC port

If you were.. say Brodix and a company like AFR came out with a BBC head that just stomped on every version you offer... are you telling me you wouldn't get your hands on one to see if they figured out a port and combustion chamber shape that is next level? And how could you not "incorporate&qu...

Re: Darin Morgan Pro-Stock Ford Head......

Factory Stock has more followers than Pro Stock From a long time Pro Stock fan, who has been disinterested in Pro Stock for several several years now. Factory Stock is cool, very fun to watch and follow. Pro Stock is all but dead to me....the changes have been too little, too late. Once they have c...

Re: Holley Avenger EFI on Budget 532 lbs-ft 383

I wonder why the OEM's don't use tight lobes with tons of overlap.. I mean it sounds like the greatest thing ever.

Also, heaven help everyone else who has the share the road with your motherthumpr cams and visible vapor trail of unburnt fuel.
