Re: Voltage to ignition coil
I hadn't thought of that. I think it's difficult to get that information, it's bought from China. Can it be protected with a diode? Yes, you can limit the flyback voltage in the primary with a zener diode, but shunting the primary to ground at some arbitrary voltage limits the output of the coil by...

Re: Emulsion tube quest
Does the DCO have progression holes at the throttle blade, the DCOE has them under a brass cap, but a DCO pic has nothing there? Blocking the last progression hole with a wood toothpick cured a too rich low end transition problem that a lotta new jets plus many with number drills & solder didn'...

Re: Voltage to ignition coil
If you can check with the manufacturer, find out if it can tolerate the high voltage flyback from the ignition coil, which can be as high as 400 V, depending on turns ratio of the coil and maximum voltage rating which can be reached if a plug wire is not connected when the spark fires.

Re: Holley 9379 on a street Car
The smaller jet requirement is because in this 1-3/8" venturi carb the annular booster occupies a greater percentage of venturi area, in comparison to larger venturi carbs, so the flow through the main venturi around the outside of the booster is somewhat restricted and flow through the booster...

Re: Resistance of non resistor spark plugs
30-35 years ago this was brought to my attention by a pal who is a deep thinker, always looking for the last little detail to make things better on his race car. We measured a bunch of NGK and Autolite racing plugs and found the same thing you have. New plugs measure some small resistance or open, a...

Re: Holley 9379 on a street Car
Not sure about the idle circuit calibration, but the out of the box main jet sizes are 4 to 6 sizes too large. Best get a wide band O2 and tune it.

Re: Voltage to ignition coil
FYI ,I was working on a 460 ford and the voltage at the hei plug was 9.8. While cranking. That was not the problem , but it .ight be why everything has to be perfect for it to start. Are you using a HEI distributor with a regular GM HEI pickup and module inside the coil-in-cap housing, or a Ford ma...

You didn't say "refurbished" so I thought you meant the entire product line.rgalajda wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 8:04 am https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_sy ... rburetors/

Re: Are the factory refurbished Holley carbs worth getting?
I have a buddy that was telling me he was going to get some of those Holley factory refurbished carbs. Not the new models, but the old gold colored classic ones. Like the L-1850, and the 450 cfm type. He's wanting a L-3310 780 cfm, and a 650 double pumper. I looked at them and they don't have a war...

Re: Voltage to ignition coil
For sure, your plan will increase ignition energy. 30+ years ago some circle track outfit was marketing a system that ran the HEI coil at 24 V with the module at 12 V (24 V kills the module). I rigged this on the bench and can report it works. Crazy hot spark and increased spark output at high RPM, ...

I don't think anybody will sign in to ghooghul anything so you will have to post the images here.
The odd EGT, have you tried moving the injector to a different cylinder to see if the EGT follows it?

This could be better than, or at least as good as, four QJets.

Re: tunnel ram carb talk
You would gain with 850s but not for money spent. You would Def be happy with a pair of doms and see better improvement. I went through same thing with 900 plus hp sbc. Braswell told me when I went from 865 hp to the 935 setup that his 850s would still do the job. I ran it 3 times, about 7 passes. ...
