Re: 302 Ford or 302 Chevy

All-Pro makes some 23 degree heads that flow in the 380's with a 2.180 valve; may want a smaller valve for a small bore motor.

Re: 302 Ford or 302 Chevy

GM has a low & med deck block that would make an excellent platform; most comp engines start at 8.200 deck height and deck block down to 8.100. The amount of power depends on your budget and application not so much as ford or chevy.

Re: Minimum Cross Sectional Area: Question

Gary C I remember Judson Massingill co-ower of SAM-tech making a statement saying that angle milling down to the seat could hurt the flow enough to actually lose power.

Re: Fixing a cam?

A new cam is the cheapest up grade you can do for high performance engine. With the new profiles that available you may pick up some HP with the new cam while your at it.

Re: Choosing the right shaft mounted rocker arms

Any of the Jesel, t&d aluminum. would be over kill. The Comp shaft rockers are made for them by t&d. This is based on my own use; I bought some nascar take offs ran them over 700 passes at over 9000 rpm on each pass. this engine had 350# seat 1000# over the nose. I still run these rockers on 7800 rp...

Re: Step in the throat

Yes leave the angles off the seat in the bowl. Helps the flow turn. I have seen radius intake angle cost as much as 16 cfm.

Also if you want to change it to a 1050; all you have to change is the boosters. Something to think about.

Re: LS3 Carbed build

Chad a merge collector with 2.5 choke will want less jet. most of the time make the same power but go down the track quicker. Not sure of reason, just what I have experienced.

Re: Sbc 400 vs 415 vs 427?

I would go dart shp block, with 3.875 stroke with small rod journals ( 2.000) and compstar rods as they clear standard base circle cam with no modifications to rods or block.

Re: The 128 drama!

that's a lot of dyno testing; about 23 tests a week for four shops for 4 years. All working on the 128 formula ? You know and I know this may work in some cases but not all. So are you saying this works in every engine in every application, or just some of them.
