The EPD 22R head from the GT3 car i used to work on, flows 250+cfm on my bench.
Google LC Engineering & peruse their cylinder head offerings.
Very Capable design in the right hands.

Re: 243 LS SSR...Stumped.
Thank you Sir for the helpful tips. I'm just seeing this now, as yesterday was a late day between work and social commitments. I actually have the solder profile sitting on my desk in front of me, to compare against the one you kindly posted of the Mamo CNC head from the other thread. I will figure ...

Re: 243 LS SSR...Stumped.
Update; Laid the SSR back some and moved the crest towards the gasket a touch as instructed, with positive results. .100 .200 .300 .400 .500 .550 .600 .700 .800 69....147..209..252..281..290..290..272..278 Not fixed...but progress, and only 2-3cc of metal removal. Thank you for all the helpful advic...

Re: 243 LS SSR...Stumped.
Steve; I believe i read the riblet technique in Don's 740hp nascar book that everyone bought back in the day. seems it was the top of the right side page. Described in detail the grit, direction of motion, and theory. The theory was that the grooves left from the coarse grit applied extra surface ar...

Re: 243 LS SSR...Stumped.
Gentlemen, thank you for the interest and helpful replies. Much appreciated! Mag2555 Thank you for the photo. If i remember correctly, that was a Mamo Motorsports CNC head with a 2.055 intake. I followed that thread with interest. Did you ever get the head poured for cc? Chad; your work, as always, ...

Re: 243 LS SSR...Stumped.
Thank you TK...really do appreciate your help.
I'm totally unfamiliar with 15* heads as far as runner volume cc / engine displacement...is there a basic cc i should shoot for with a 6.0 to 6500?

Re: 243 LS SSR...Stumped.
TK thank you for your generous advice. Currently the swirl ramp & rocker bosses are largely intact, are these contributing to the ridiculous SSR floor speeds? Currently the port pours 215cc. A 1/4in flowball placed just before the center floor apex helps flow @ .550 from 290 to 296cfm, and again...

Re: 243 LS SSR...Stumped.
Sir, thank you for your reply. I bought & sawz-all'ed a truck intake to test that exact condition, and it dropped flow approximately 3% from .300 up...but does nothing to postpone the onset of turbulence. I'm testing 3 different valve backcut configurations to observe effects: no backcut, 30* &a...

243 LS SSR...Stumped.
I'm not a professional porter, i'm just an auto mechanics instructor trying to help a student with a project. I've valve-jobbed, flowed, pitot probed, flow-balled, string-wanded & CC'ed this thing. Of course it flows nicely upto .550, flowing 290cfm@28" and then erupts into turbulence from ...

Re: Simple SBF Highport porting question, please
Melway, the heads come with 2.02int/1.60ex, with seats already cut. intake seats are 35/45/60 from TFS.
The combo is a duplicate of a buddy's, that runs 5.70/122 1/8 mile in a fox...different cam for my weight, and my porting instead of his.

Re: Simple SBF Highport porting question, please
Swamp; After playing with Cleveland heads for 30 years, i've learned that the world doesnt revolve around a flowchart, and "rules-of-thumb" work...till they dont. Sq.in of area must be appropriate for the displacement, and if the port is right, it will move air. I tried and tried to trick ...

Swamp, thanks for looking.
I'm hoping the engine will make 525ish on muscle, but Dean Harvey @ compcams specced the cam for a 300hp shot.
